Wolverhampton 2014

Recommended Posts

News from tonight's talk in.

Ty Proctor and Jacob Thorssell confirmed starters for next season. Tai hopefully dependent on AGM.

Sam Masters has emailed CVS weekly and is keen to be at Wolves next season. He hasn't heard anything from his parent club Somerset yet.

Pontus has made progress this year and would be a consideration.

Ashley Morris - No more NL so PL and possibly some EL (with Wolves).

Jakub Jamrog - is probably to wild for Monmore. Berge the young French lad is probably a couple of seasons away from being EL ready.

* FREDDIE IS HAVING A SEASON OUT OF EL *

No new on the SKY contract but their will be an inevitable weakening of both EL and PL if that is the case.

If EL is weakened it is believed 3 teams will join.

Teams are looking at 20 home meetings with regional competition to start the season.

Ty is looking to race in Sweden and Poland and not PL. He has interest from Sweden and 3 clubs interested in Poland. If these fall thru it is possible he will double down as needs more racing.

An interesting bit of information was shared on Mikkel Michelsen and Michael Jepsen Jensen.

Michelsen was keen to join Wolves, spent a lot of time with PA, PA payed for his flight for a trip back from Poland but he never turned up. It was then announced he had signed for Eastbourne which Wolves were surprised at.

MJJ chose to sign for Wolves but wanted to race in EL there and then at the back end of 2011 and we couldn't give him the racing he needed so went to Peterborough.

A story was told about Peter Ljung as the replacement for Ty (after the Michelsen deal fell thru) but to protect PA i wont publish the details on here as Lakeside promotion might be offended!!

Doubling up is likely to continue.

*if no SKY then the double points is likely to revert back to normal tactical substitutes *

The top GP boys probably earn a million!!

So the nonsense about MJJ being offered loads of money was completely wrong, It was just about who was willing to giving him track time.

.....As ive discussed above the comments about Michelsen and MJJ was in relation to a comment about negativity from supporters about not signing riders. As far as im concerned it was perfectly in context with the questio(s) that were asked.

But perhaps as expected some take one piece of comment in isolation and tear into it......

Steve. Not sure the 'tear into it'. was in response to myself however I would make this point. I was highlighting that CVS & Adams got hammered for allowing Michelsen to go to Eastbourne. We now know, thanks to Adams response last night, that there was more to it than we all knew at the time. The negativity from fans was allowed to fester because, like most of the BSPA, they operate an omerta like code of silence, refusing point blank to acknowledge we are no longer in the 80s as regards what supporters do and should know about the workings of their club. If only they'd been open about it at the time. Interestingly, thinking about it, the decline of British speedway has coincided, more or less, with the rise of the internet and the availability of information.

Wolfsbane, the `tear into it` response wasn't aimed at you. The whole point of the comment/response gives, as you point out, relevance to the Michelsen possible signing. As a Wolves fan it certainly is some comfort to know the promotion were trying to make the best possible changes instead of going thru the motions of qualifying for the play offs and then not be strong enough anyway that a lot seemed to fear was happening.

The comments of other regarding `excuses, if only`s` just shows they are only looking for ways to pick at our management but for us who question the motives of our promotion at times have a much bigger picture for future reference.

It should be pointed out that Pete Adams had his blast about missing out on Michelsen this season and MJJ in 2011 and how close the club had come to signing these riders, when he had finished CVS did make the comment that he was suprised he let that news out and obviously didn't want to make that public.

When it comes down to it, Wolves fans are very lucky to have these two in charge of the club and are now planning for their 29th season in charge at Monmore Green and with the World Champion TaiWoffinden 9.20 at #1, Ty Proctor 5.78 returning from injury and hopefully in form, we should also be looking at starting with the new PK and Freddie in the shape of Pontus Aspgren 3.15 and Jacob Thorssell 4.61.

Until the limit is set, Skornicki 6.15, Wells 5.35, Ludvig (Brummies asset) 4.48 and Ncolai 4.24 will be waiting by the phone and would think two of those will also be starting next season.

Good article.

At 28 think he has made the wise decision.Dont think Fred will be lost to British speedway for good, can see him taking in a fair few open meetings.

Good luck to the guy,hes been an absolute credit to the Elite league these past 10 seasons.

Hardly a surprise that Freddie won't be riding in the EL next season, had gone stale and IMO never quite been the same since that awful crash in 2012 at Monmore.

Must be left scratching his head as to how he had gone from the Wolves golden boy to being left firmly in the shadows of Tai.

I doubt he will be back ever again, done his ten years and got his pay off, thanks for the memories.

Career defining season that just happens to be the one after your testimonial. Fooling no one Fred.

So what ? Anyone with a brain cell would do the same in his position. he HAS to succeed in the GP's this season or he is gone.

He earned his testimonial and owes nobody anything past it.

Yep. His defining season in the GPs. So ask yourself why he didn't drop league racing elsewhere instead of GB. Answer = money. No problem with that at all after his loyalty to the EL. Just can't be doing with folks who try to hide the real reason behind a smokescreen.

Probably best to leave money out of any reasoning for leaving a club. Fans don't want to hear that excuse but we all work for money and if it doesn't pay then why would we do that dangerous work.

Who knows what money will be on the table next season ? All depends on Sky and sponsors and thats not decided yet.
