T.N.T.
Don't get me wrong, I am in no way knocking Ty Proctor who in my opinion was rightly the first person signed for the 2014 season as he has not only improved vastly over the last few years with a better riding style but he is also Wolves through and through and while out injured was at most Wolves matches helping out where ever he could. My point was that riding at #5 wouldn't help him or the team. How could going out with Tai twice and Piotr twice against better averaging riders help him or the team ? This position looks to be the toughest position in the team and therefore the only real choice for the #5 race jacket is Tai Woffinden. Therefore Ty would have to ride at #1 or #3 and while there is no doubting his ability around Monmore, his away scores are not as impressive ..... but not too bad. However as tactical rides are only allowed in six races during the meeting, on away meetings the #3 rider features in three of these six races. Yet again it could be the best position for Woffy, but Piotr could be a key figure away and therefore the #3 race jacket suits him best That leaves Ty with the #1 race jacket which will not only give him a confidence boost but also puts him in two races with a second string (Ricky Wells) and two races alongside Tai Woffinden who he had great success with last season with a 47% rate of maximum heat wins and could be a trump card in these races. With some impressive scores in 2013 before his injury, even if Ty was to score 3+2 or 5+1 in a number of meetings, his rolling average is unlikely to drop much if at all ...... meanwhile Ricky Wells started well in 2013 before dropping back a bit mid season and even with scores of 6 or 7 in meetings, his average is unlikley to rise much ..... if at all. Overall I am very pleased with the 5 riders in the main body of the team for 2014 ........ but I have to admit that now looking at the race format, a team with two big hitters may be more reliable / stronger and a team of Woffinden, Fredrik Lindgren, Proctor, Thorssell and a 3+ rider like Sam Masters may have been a stronger team ......... possibly ? ....... But With Freddie making it clear he wants a year out and Chris Holder unlikely to ride anywhere other than Poole, the team they have assembled is possibly the best option available ...... but unlikley to be the best team in 2014
EnglishRoundabout
Heat 01: 1 2 v 1 2 Heat 02: 6 7 v 6 7 Heat 03: 3 5 v 3 5 Heat 04: 4 6 v 2 7 Heat 05: 1 5 v 3 4 Heat 06: 3 4 v 1 5 Heat 07: 2 7 v 4 6 Heat 08: 3 4 v 2 3 Heat 09: 6 7 v 6 7 Heat 10: 1 2 v 3 5 Heat 11: 3 5 v 1 4 Heat 12: 2 6 v 2 7 Heat 13: 1 5 v 1 5 Heat 14: 4 7 v 4 6 Heat 15: Top Scorers v Top Scorers The new format could mean a drastic changes to how a team lines up and possibly the teams top rider not at #1 The #5 rider has ALL his rides alongside another heat leader....... could this be a bit of a restraint on Ty Proctor as he would only face an opposing second string (#4) twice and all others are heat leaders. Against a well balanced team he could be the lowest averaged rider in most races. With the #3 jacket finishing his programmed rides by heat 11 at home and heat 10 way then this could be the best option for Ty but away the #3 is available for a tatical ride in three races of the six where you can make thetactical move and therefore I feel Piotr would be better here than Ty. This then means that the best place to put Ty is at #1 where he would be out in heat 1 which he has done in most meetings in both leagues anyway and would also have two rides alongside Tai which last season had a near 50% success rate in 5-1 heat wins when together. With Ty at #1, he has two rides with #2 and that is best for Ricky Wells to partner him. WOLVERHAMPTON "Parrys International Wolves" 2014 #1 - Tyron Proctor ...................... 5.78 #2 - Ricky Wells ......................... 5.35 #3 - Piotr Pawlicki ....................... 7.00 #4 - Jacob Thorssell .................... 4.61 #5 - Tai Woffinden ...................... 9.20 #6 - Joe Jacobs .......................... 3.00 #7 - Ashley Morris ....................... 3.00 Whilst very detailed and meticulous, you have far too much time on your hands TNT!! stevebrum
I'm a bit puzzled by the apparent lack of faith in Proctor. OK, so he's been out for a while injured, but it wasn't the kind of dramatic injury that destroys the confidence of riders (Mikael Max's broken leg springs to mind). He's a heat leader now, but there are only a small handful of riders in the league he wouldn't fancy his chances against, especially at Monmore. Look at the EL line-ups and there are any number of riders in the top three I wouldn't rate as genuine heat leaders. I reckon at 5.78 Proctor looks to be one of the best value riders in the league. I can see why some think Ty has a big ask this year. However he rode like an unofficial heat leader last season until he got injured last year (and the main reason why we topped the league at that point lets remember). In its current format he will have a lot tougher races, but i back him fully to do a good job.
T.N.T. INCOGNITO
Ty Proctor has certainly grown up in the last few seasons and is now more steady on the bike and more consistent with the points but the season ahead is going to be a tough one for him and many other heat leaders with every race containing strong riders. Wolverhampton have stayed loyal to four riders and then got a promising top rider to fill the gap. It may be a bit of a gamble but they have the ability to surprise and have a very young team that will hold nothing back in trying to get every point on offer. Could be a good outside bet or way of the pace ?

T.N.T.
This year I really don't know if Wolves are contenders for the title o the wooden spoon as all ten teams seem to have good points but quite frankl I think the reserves are going to be the key riders in ALL teams

Nearly everyone has Brum & Leics at the foot of the table, and most agree that Poole, Lynn, Cov, B Vue & Swindon will be fighting it out for top four. That leaves Wolves, Lakeside and Eastie as outsiders but any of those three could creep in if they get off to a strong start like Wolves last year. On that basis putting Wolves 6-8th is just about right. Nothing wrong with that, not laughable and keeps the pressure off which is no bad thing. As excited as I am about my team's chances there is pressure with peoples expectations. The first time we get soundly beaten (and it will happen on the small tracks) people will be all over it, comes with the territory. There's a lot to be said for being written off, I wouldn't resist it personally. Edited March 4, 2014 by Bagpuss
waiheke1
Have to agree with that analysis. Id say wolves could easily finish anywhere from 3rd to 8th, though my prediction is 7th. Looking at tnts analysis, I make proctor as gaving an 11-8 record agaibst riders who will be opposition heat keaders in 2014, albeit withmore home than aaway matches. If he continues thst form he will increase his average, which goes against ythe ecpectstions I - and I assume others - may have had.

Anyway it really doesn't matter. Predictions have a habit of making some posters look like they know little of what they are talking about. I can live with that. No doubt if we do have a dreadful season i can see many saying we told you so, it would probably be just rewards for the many that were wrong last season.
