T.N.T.
With 12.41 left for the final two once Tai Woffinden is confirmed as our #1, it would be no suprise if it was PK that was looked at as the back up to the World Champion as he is a great team man, loves the Monmore track and would be a big bonus to Jacob and possibly Pontus aswell as the two reserves. However, even though he has declared he still has a few years left in him yet, to return from such an injury especially being in his mid 40's and you have to question will he still be an 8+ rider ? ...... Chances are that he will be as he is more Bionic Man than the Milky Bar Kid and has made more comebacks with Wolves than Elvis at Vegas. Scott Nicholls has to be a tempting signing. Around Monmore he is a track specialist and anyone that thinks he won't increase his 7.19 average has obviously never seen him around the Green (although in 2013 he did have a few poor rides at WV2). The question is though can he score away from home and back up Tai and when you look at his scores it was the tail end of the season where he mainly struggled. He still managed double figure scores at Eastbourne (x2), Wolves, P'boro, Swindon, Birmingham and Belle Vue and signing Scott would also leave 5.22 for the last rider (still too much for Ricky) and with Mikkel Bech already signed at Lakeside and Mikkel Michelson now an Eagles asset, the choice of suitable riders is pretty limited ........ which is why I feel its going to be between two Swedes or two Aussies in PK or Batchelor with Aspgren or Masters to complete the team. stevebrum
I can still see Nicholls being at Wolves Think PK will be more likely if we go with strong top 2. The trouble is his career is slowly on the decline and has been dropping his average steadily. Is good value at the Green but has had some awful meetings here AND away. That is the reason why he is slowly dropping his average. He COULD quite possibly add a small amount at Wolves but i would still rather have PK. Crazy robin
Get you skidder trying to stir it!! Doyley is a Swindon asset and will be in Robins colours next season 100%. Trust me..... I do hope so as he scored points at all the other tracks & every Swindon team needs a Aussie like Jason.
T.N.T.
With the reserves having two races between themselves and other races against second strings, should a team have two heat leaders they will more than likely have a weaker 5th rider and this rider will more than likely appear in races with the reserves so it may be better to have a more balanced top five like Coventry have built. The #5 race jacket will no longer be paired with a reserve three times, so a second heat leader may not be as important and with this in mind, I think the best options to fill the last two places are riders that can score points as a possible partnership. Scott Nicholls 7.19 and Simon Gustafsson 5.17 would be my favourite pairing. We know Scott isn't back at Coventry and know he goes well at Monmore Green and Simon has gone stale at Eastbourne and needs a change and could be a bargain. With Eagles possibly having Michelsen and Lahti, they will be after 7 point riders and may loan him out. Otherwise a good partnership could be Adam Skornicki 6.14 and Grzegorz Zengota 6.15. Adam is a solid scorer as we know and Zengota was Bees rider of the year and is a Swindon asset and is unlikely to feature in their team. This could be a solid partnership and take the pressure off Ty and Jacob having to improve. We would all love to see PK return, but after a bad injury like he has suffered, he may be a bigger gamble than Nicolai in what looks like a busy fixture list with 36 league matches compared to 28 last season. I'm sure Adam would be the perfect choice as captain.

Tommy Sweetman
Id like to see Batch and Masters(im sure Tai would be happy with that) complete the team, but not sure CVS would take the gamble with a loose cannon like Troy TBH. Obviously, all Wolves fans would love to give PK a great send off for the fantastic service he has given to the club, but after suffering such a bad injury and together with his age,are we letting our heart rule our head,by giving him a final season at Monmore. But if he does want to give it another go,then im sure there wont be many complaints by any of us. fish keeper
Yep,be quite happy with that. How about the final rider,Pontus or Sam ?. I think Sam might be a bit of a gamble as he will have to be in the top 5 starting line up plus as not ridden here for 12 months.
superguest
Just cannot see us not using these riders.... Tai 9.2 Ty 5.78 Ricky 5.35 Jacob 4.61 Leaves 7.06 ..... So if not Rooboy on 6.84, Edward Kennett 6.39 possibly ? Would be cheap with only Jacob to fly in & out regularly. Personally would like to see Pontus back but his average just doesn't fit unless we don't sign Ricky.. Unlikely. Think Sam riding at 2 alongside Tai,would help him get dialed into riding Monmore very quickly, but unsure how he would go on away tracks. Buts thats gonna be a gamble who ever we have,if we decide to go with a strong top two.

With Tai and Batch both riding for Wroclaw in Poland it would be easy for both to fly back together and get in a few scooter case races in each week around the airports too, but with a new race format being drawn up, I can't see a team with two strong heat leaders being better than a team more balanced as the second strings will be just as vital as strong reserves under a new race format. We have already seen Coventry name four riders with just one rider over a seven average named in a powerful looking line up and have overfive points left for the last place aswell. With Wolves having the World #1 and the highest averaging rider in the league, in my opinion it would be suicidal not to have a strong pair of second strings and in signing Nicholls/Gustafsson or Zengota/Skornicki te team would have a powerful line up and hopefully reserves to match. Woffinden, Nicholls, Proctor, Gustafsson, Thorssell ...... or ...... Woffinden, Zengota, Skornicki, Proctor, Thorssell would gve the team good second strings to use in the heats with the reserves and also score points in other races. Also as CVS pointed out at the talk in, PK has stated he feels he has another few years left in him so it wouldn't be a farewell season any way. We also have to get Tai back from Poland and other costs and Jacob is over here more than in Sweden any way. Edited November 24, 2013 by T.N.T. I would imagine the other place would be Adam.
INCOGNITO
It would not be a surprise to see five of last year's team return and the Lindgren's replaced by two National League riders. Ashley Morris is sure to be one making it six assets and if Joe Haines did think about returning it would be a full team of assets and Joe is just as good, if not better than Ashley. A ORLOV
Tia has an idea for cutting costs for riders in 2014, having tried it before. Here is the 2014 Wolverhampton race suit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=moSrlzvwDp4 Edited November 24, 2013 by A ORLOV
INCOGNITO
Teams seem to be looking at how the new format suits the different formations of team building and are packing the top five with four solid scorers and a number one. If Wolves opt to go with a top two of Tai and PK or Batchelor then they are at risk of having the weakest second strings in the league. It's a shame they never got Nicholls as he gave them 5+ for the last rider but they need to start the season with Thorssell as the fifth rider to give them more stability in meetings. BWitcher
I think we're looking at Tai, Adam, Ty, Ricky and Jacob. Seems strong enough to me, especially if Jacob can continue to kick on and Ty is anywhere close to the level he was riding at this year. We were considered weak this season too. However lets not forget that Proctor starts on a low average when he was riding like a heat leader prior to injury (remained in top 10 of EL averages in the Speedway star!). Thorssell will be the one that may have a tougher task but if some of his heats feature against other second strings and reserves i don't see why he cant add on to his starting average. Was hugely impressive this season and looks to have a growing career over here.
