ER are you counting the days down now,? any news on the press day practice is it open to the public as usual.

Yes Sidney, this time of year does make you start thinking of lighter nights, and that fantastic speedway smell! Orlovski is spot on with dates/times for press and practice. See you there for a beer!

2B's sid....can't think of anything worse! ;) .... .Peroni or Stella for me! :t:

Lightweight!

Odd really and i dont know why but i cant quite build up any real enthusiasm for this coming season...well im not over keen on the way they are fast tracking kids on the cheap but i dont think its merely that...perhaps the novelty is wearing off after 40 years!

Anyone know the start time of the Bob Kilby meeting on March 30th as that is Mothering Sunday and all the family are planning a lunch out in Bristol, expected it to be on the official site by now.

Sure it was mid-March last year. My bruv(a big Robins fan), is over from Adelaide, and was hoping to catch some early-spring Abbey action for Bob's Memorial meet. Not this time around. Hope more turn out than last year's pathetic attendance at a colder than usual Blunsdon.

They do decent meals in the stadium restaurant also.

perhaps you need one of those long-breaks like I had between 1970-2000s. Didn't go to the Abbey for about 30 years! Will try and attend most meetings this year, depending on finances, weather, and enthusiasm levels.

If i base my attendence this year on those 3 i will probably do the Kilb and thats it! ;)

I've got a photo in one of my Facebook Speedway albums of John Davis demolishing a post as well at Swindon but I think this would have been in the 1980's. Seems the posts get in the way quite a bit on the Robins track.

There is some staggering youtube footage from the 30s of a race in Austria where a rider is killed after crashing into a steel staircase actually on the track bend!
