Robins 2014

With no KO Cup surely its holders v League champs.......

It has been for the last few years.

An article in the adver states that the Elite Shield will be run on a date to be announced.

This is good news as any meeting against Poole is well worth watching.

Any other date than as a season opener will be a waste.

Agree with those sentiments AOrlov, but not what we were told at the recent Poole R.E.F. evening!!!

We wait to find out, a lot depends on which PL club he gets a place at and if his transfer request is granted, or if he decides to go elsewhere anyway.

If Jason Doyle cannot get a visa there is a possibility he may be asked to ride back at Somerset in which case he is likely to be at Swindon.

Will follow Nick riding the Aus under 21 Championships on Saturday, heat details will be on Speedway Updates Sat morning.

A famous Swindon rider Leigh Adams son Declyn Adams also rides on Sat in the under 16 250cc meeting at the same venue.

Last weekend he came third in an individual meeting and first in a pairs meeting.

Josh Bates has been allowed to join Sheffield and is no longer in the Swindon side. Some sort of deal to get Sheffield to stop pursuing Morris perhaps?

Just any of the remaining riders I guess. I don't think averages come into it. Darryl Ritchings probably.

So first pick in the second round of the draft now counts for nothing and the integrity of the draft shot to pieces.

Can't but think this is the result of some horse trading as you suggest Grachan but highlights the fact that first choice in R2 was probably more important than the R1 pick. There's not much available now unless Oliver Greenwood can be talked into it now he's got a PL place at Peteborough

Having just read the Adver piece there is an almighty amount of spin being put on this. Josh Bates was supposedly in Rosco's first choice pairing along with Steve Worrall. All of the reasons for letting him go now were apparent then, so what's going on? I said at the time that no proper consideration was given to the choices and this would appear to be the case.

What a joke this is & really needs the truth to come out as the sport is full of so many twists & turns or should I say lies.

the truth is Josh Bates did not fancy a 3 hour drive to Swindon every week when Owlerton is just a 15 minute drive from his home in Barnsley.

The draft system has its flaws no doubt but at least rosco understood the position Bates was in.

Fair point & guess Josh was also going to share driving with Ashley Birks till that fell through but what does this say about the draft system.

Swindon are left with a rider lower down in the pick when they had first pick of the 2nd draft.

The likelihood of a 3 hour drive was there when he agree to be part of the draft and they wouldn't have taken that decision lightly. Whether it's the right move for the kid or not doesn't hide the fact that the Robins have next to no options now. That's a hard enough pill to swallow but more so when you consider they had the pick of everyone available in R2. Now they have to make do with those riders that were overlooked.
