Bagpuss
Ah, the old 'jealous of Poole' line, I wondered how long that would take. While some of the comments on here are a bit harsh we have all seen his rickets while in charge of GB and we all read his remarks on Darcy last winter and the ones that followed on Twitter. I'm sure he's a lovely fellow but its plain that his decision making leaves an awful lot to be desired on occasion.
stevebrum
Let's all slag off Middlo 'eh? Some people on here don't seem to have a clue about the guy. No charisma? Middlo ? Pure jealousy I am afraid. He speaks as he sees it, is the most successful manager in the recent history of the sport and is totally respected by riders. Easy to have a pop on here but some people are way off target Easy to point out the obvious too. He has a habit of putting his foot in it with comments to press. Respected by the riders maybe, but not well respected by some non Poole fans because of comments made as a National manager. Nothing to do with jealousy if you are able to smell the coffee that is. orion
Rossiter is not GB Manager material in my opinion. Blowing his top live on television, making stupid statements, never mind the regular elementary mistakes as Robins team manager . He is a Wiltshire version of Middleditch. Yes his track record in recent years has been impressive, but If he is considered as the inspiration of a 'new dawn' for GB speedway, it won't happen. Mind you, that won't happen for many years until there is a radical re think regarding the basic priorities in relation to the nurturing and progress of British youngsters. So what ? who cares as long as you win stuff . His record is outstanding so what he does works and that is all that matters .
Starman2006
So what ? who cares as long as you win stuff . His record is outstanding so what he does works and that is all that matters . Our sentiments at Poole exactly. You took the words right out of ours mouths... Nice one.... You're a bit harsh there ER.. Admittedly, there are no outstanding candidates for the job, but Rosco would at least be a step in the right direction.. The clueless oaf Muddle couldn't be bothered to get the necessary accreditation and has no personality whatsoever. At least Rosco would instill some passion in his riders and that did the USA no harm when their team of no-hopers (GH excluded) relegated GB to last behind Latvia.. TBH...my gran would be an improvement on last year's GB manager.. Nice one, and you've never made mistakes in your life.... Hmm, i thought so... Time will tell. Rosco will not be able to do anything different with the riders we have at his diposal.. Simples.. Ah, the old 'jealous of Poole' line, I wondered how long that would take. Yep works everytime. stratton
not a poisoned chalice at all but with our pool of riders we should be ahead of Latvia and the USA but Middlo was pretty clueless and made mistake after mistake in selections and he isn't exactly a good motivator. We don't expect to get near to winning the World Cup but we shouldn't be any lower then 5 th in my mind behind the poles Danes swedes and Aussies. Can't see Rosco being as inept as MiddloI don't see us being an odvious 5th now, our pool of riders 'Gavan''are pretty thin on the ground you have to admit that.I just hope we have a system and long term vision to try to get riders through the system it is a long hard road back i am afraid.Lambert is the one we all have high hopes for, i just hope not to much pressure is put on him.Would having two Brits at reserve in the PL help? i believe it would be a step in the right direction get rid of the Edberg type riders and a give a couple of Young Brits extended team places. Crazy robin
John Louis started riding aged 29 and quickly became a World class rider. Age does not always restrict ability... Swindon 2014 is the name of this thread.
BluPanther
Swindon 2014 is the name of this thread. Correct, give that man a gold star...No more news on Morris then ?
Hodgy
Thought the same of Janowski at Monmore. Scores of 1+1 and 2 points. Lee Smart would have scored more.Good point. Does that mean Magics average is so low because he has ridden more away meetings 😉 Your stretching it with the Smart bit.

If you have witnessed Magic at Monmore then the Smart bit is hardly stretching it!

Double Up
Where is the defence of the Elite Shield against Poole in the new fixture list out today?
SteveLyric2
No Elite Shield this year as there are more league fixtures!!? Great 'double header' on Good Friday though - I guess Poole in the morning and Swindon in the evening - should be a good day!! I wonder if Morris will be riding? theblueboy
Nice start to the season. End of March, on a Sunday and probably a 6 pm start. The promotion should be able to attract a decent field and the fans need just the 2 layers instead of the usual 3 or 4. Coventry to open EL proceedings at The Abbey will be a good test with the early return of Hans. I like the look of the back to back fixtures v Poole on Good Friday and good to see the management have used a bit of foresight and not gone up against England's WC match on 19th June. I am personally looking forward to the match on 12 June v Swindon. Should be a massive crowd for this local derby.
