Latest news on the Blunsdon development including the stadium.

Now that the industrial units around the stadium that would have helped with parking space have been scrapped I have no idea where all the supporters will park. One good thing though is they can tell the Stadium owners what they can do with their charge for parking.

To be honest, I have never understood why people have moaned about the parking. There's a huge free car park 200 yards from the stadium and all people have to do is walk from it. Supporters have chosen to pay £1.50 for the convenience but then spend 10 minutes to get out....the same amount of time to walk to Turnpike Road. ;)

I ent, i don't know about you Orion? Rather stick with our run down site the track is unique and like Hyde Rd will never be replaced. Bugger the houses build them somewhere else the vibes are not good from what i have heard and it is worrying times for all Robins Fans. Edited by sidney

For a changed we agree ..i always warned people this would happen and now it's coming true .Speedway fans as a rule just want a grass bank to stand on and a track and the Abbey is just fine for speedway fans . The new Stadium was always pie in the sky and Clark is now only a step away from closeing the robins for ever like he has with other tracks .

Sundstrom & Birks for me then if all this merry-go-round takes place....

I'd be happy with Linus and young Ash if kid Morra has dumped Rosco in the rubbish mire...

Both have potential and I'd like Swindon to stick by Ashley - he has come a long way in a short time and I hope he has recovered fully from his injuries..

I am just putting forward the report from the planners orion, if it happens it does and the facilities would be better than those in the present stadium. If it does go ahead the main downside is the fact that the track will not be as big as the present one.

Nothing wrong with the Abbey Stadium (well actually, there is), but I'd prefer it if things remained just the same as they have done over the last 30 years +

The only real downside over these years is the closure of the back straight facilities - they used to do excellent Cheese & Onion rolls when I was a youngster !

Fingers crossed for the future, but you do only have to look elsewhere to question whether the New Stadium will actually come to fruition..

Times move on orion....fans aren't content with grass banks and toilets that haven't been changed since the 1950's anymore. The Abbey is a second rate stadium.

Fair play you have always said and have been wary of the supposed new stadium.I have never really thought about it but the vibes and what I have heard is that speedway is not top of there priorities.

I remember those cheese and onion rolls yerropes....My father would pick me up sometime during the second half, and often I would have one of those rolls clutched firmly in my hand for the trip home! :D

The facilities haven't changed much in 45 years since I started going in 1968 but the size of the crowds have. My only fear is that the famous back-straight bogs wont be transferred to the new covered 10,000 seater stadium...the Rosco Arena is the preferred name I hear, with the Barry Briggs, Martin Ashby, Bob Kilby, and Leigh Adams stands. Perhaps the local housing estate's roads should be named after famous riders, Duke Drive, Keen Close, Hitch Heights, Broadbanks Grove, Munday Mews, Holloway Way, Hewlett Hill, Crump Court, Street Street, White View, Bouchard Boulevard, Richardson Road, Gresham Green, Autrey Avenue, Roger Row, Jones Passage, Williams Walk, Teodorowicz Terrace, Brett House, Nilsen Lane, Gjedde Gate, Kildemand Chase, Batchelor Square, Andersen Path etc.,. They should bring back the bottles of hubbly-bubbly pop, and Izal shiny loo rolls, and make it easier for people to climb in without paying like what we did. New stadium needed badly

Did your dad pick you up because you were felled by a lump of shale?

I agree with you ER, however, if the choice is a 1950's stadia with speedway or a brand new housing estate and the memories associated with it I know which one I prefer. It's time for Tomlinson to stand up and earn that extra £6k that we all think they thoroughly deserve.
