He fought for every point all night & did well off a dodgy gate in the final to get 2nd place.

Looks like we may be without Peter on Monday 21st July away at Belle Vue-might even be better if he doesn't ride as I am sure he will be knackered after this:-

An article in the adver on the meeting yesterday comments on the riding of Nathan and that Rosco will stick with him and help him. It seems what may help Nathan is a half day practice session at the track as well as a faster bike, as was shown when he borrowed a bike in the meeting against Belle Vue and won the race.

After the meeting last night he looked so dejected and needs help.

He did go out after the meeting last week but not with any of the top riders showing him the lines etc. It does seem strange that he has not been going out after a meeting with other Swindon riders as if he can improve it will help the team.

Is there a rule against practicing on a track on the morning of a meeting as if not it would seem make sense to get him there early along with any of the Swindon riders. This may also help him bearing in mind the need to get the track re graded for the evening meeting.

Greaves is a bit like Clegg and one or two others, should never be in an FTR slot without riding in the PL too. No doubt the talent is there but really needs to be cutting his teeth in the second division too. It's the fault of the system rather than the EL team or rider.

I agree with what you say, and originally when it was proposed, along with others commented that it should only have been one PL rider, but we have this system in place which we have to work with, which is why I raised the point.

Totally agree A Orlov, Nathan was great when he borrowed that bike, he is such a trier and certainly needs some backing. I expect there would have to be a doctor in attendance even for practice. :t:

The problem is, if one draft rider goes out and buys top notch machinery, then they will all have to do it in order to stay competitive - and that will defeat the object of paying them £40 a point, which is to cut costs.

Well said & although Nathan proved when riding Simon's bike he was quick you wonder if he had that every race what damage he could do to himself as he rarely finishes a race.

How many of you Robins forummers went to Cardiff? Saw 3 Robins fans wearing Mohican wigs yesterday, never seen 'em at The Abbey! Plenty of Robins colours there. Batch was disappointing after the last GP, but generally Leigh never did a lot at Cardiff either. Good to see Mr.Hunt and Blunsdon track staff in attendance. Was behind Eddie Kennett in ticket queue, one of his mates very derogatory about his time with Swindon! Wonder why? ;)

The GP is a different world to the EL.

Well! I see the fixtures on the Swindon website are now saying "Reserved" for the 24th, so we could have a meeting that night, would be best to keep a look out on there DSC, we do have several rain offs to be re-arranged. :t:

Oh, although the news about the Brummies is tragic, I do hope the Swindon management try their damnedest to get a fixture into this slot. Open question to Rosco-are you trying? Mind you, the only ones which qualify

are Coventry and Lakeside, as we have Leicester this week and the other (spookily) was Birmingham.

Peter scored 13 points in the Speedway European Championship last night and in the final came second behind Emil Sajfutdinow and now stands in 2nd place in the championship behind Emil. Emil has 39 points and Peter 36 with one round to go which is at Peters home track in Poland in September.
