stevebrum
In tonights Danish Championship 1st round Killer was 5th with 10 points and typically N Klint finished 2nd after a run off. Full results here http://www.sportowefakty.pl/zuzel/439608/niels-kristian-iversen-najlepszy-w-1-finale-im-danii Just goes to show how far down the pecking order the once highly talented Michael Jepsen Jensen has gone, even behind Bjarne, Mads and Klindt! Must be hard to take if your a fan of a rider in decline. Agree some of them are embarrassing to watch though. Its not really embarrassing. It just shows the gulf that a few are not ready to be in the draft yet. But how re-assuring that there are quite a few showing clear promise. Win win.
hagonshocker
Kennett?.....wtf are people smoking these days?.....has no-one paid any attention to his painful performances for Birmingham before he was dropped?....oh hang on perhaps he has 'personal' problems like he seems to have every bleeding season....i wouldnt touch him with yours
hagonshocker
Tbh Kennett was a heat leader and I am sure Kennett would be a decent second string plus he has already beaten Gustafsson around the Abbey so it will be a gamble worth taking. Not interested in someone who has merely beaten Gustaffson round here...thats hardly breaking sweat is it?!.....need to take a gamble and invest in a young gun from Europe not another has/neverwasbeen
Shale Searcher
Ashley Burks and Josh Auty have ridden EL before and should not of been included in the draft... Also, what was/is the qualifying criteria for the draft? Age or time in Speedway, if a 30 year old took up Speedway tomorrow and got a place in the national league for the rest of this season, could he also become a rider on the draft list.....? MattK
Agree but because SG has a low average the options are limited I hope we can get a young gun from Europe as well but I cant see it tbh. Obviously, without seeing the mythical list of assessed averages, it's hard to name names, but given Milik was assessed as a 4, there must be plenty of riders with an assessed average below what we have available. Personally, I still think we are better off dipping into the PL and getting a rider who already has equipment and set-up in the UK. I think the days of us being able to give foreign riders a generous golden handshake so they can set themselves up with top notch equipment and hit the ground running are long gone.
BluPanther
Good to see that the habitual Dakota North 'knockers' all seem to have gone on holiday this week...
noggin
I would of liked Fricke but there will be too many fixture clashes. Kalle Katajisto anyone? Would that be the same Kalle who got beat by SG? so we don't want EK because he manages to beat SG, swindon made a right balls up with the signings of NK & SG, when we should have been trying for the likes of Bech, a rider we first brought over.

M Bech is at Swindon most meetings and we could have had him in the team but do not know the reason why he was not signed. Another rider who is improving and doing well is a mate of Nicks, Ryan Douglas rode after a meeting on Nicks bikes and went well, unfortunately he now rides for Scunthorpe. Will prob end up at Poole. If that's true then IMO a right clanger been dropped, MB could have made all the difference to the team, with less reliance on trying to find that special reserve, a long season in store. Red Robin
Good to see that the habitual Dakota North 'knockers' all seem to have gone on holiday this week... Believe me! Dak has a fair amount of swindon fans, he puts 100% effort in.

I suppose it depends if you want a rider for the future, like Fricke/Douglas or if you want someone who can come in to the team and hit the ground running. I think we might be able to scrap the play-offs if we get a secondstring who can score solidly from day one.

Douglas for me has a huge future has any EL team shown an interest?i was hoping with him being Nick's mate it might give us first option also the Abbey could suit Douglas. noggin
There is the problem I agree with noggin signing two riders on a downward spiral was silly. I just cant see past Kennett for many reasons he is a cheaper option, Eddie also has experience around the Abbey and I just think Eddie is a gamble worth taking (New format, Easier Rides than last season & Should be good for at least 6 a meeting). And Rosco knows what makes him tick, apparently!

Crazy robin
Michael Bech only rode for Swindon because of his links with Jan Steachman. I hope the fact that Ryan Douglas is a good mate of Nick's then we might have a chance of getting him but the draft rules really make it hard to take chances on young foreign riders now. LagutaRacingFan
Lebedev or Loktaev would both be good signings.
MikeK
i did put on here that North was a worse option than Klindt and got shot down in flames. North averaging just over 3 and Klindt was around 5. So am i right or wrong? I said North would not improve Swindon - he hasnt Bet you wish you had given Dak a little more time to get organised after jumping at the chance to come over to UK after he was not required so quite obviously not set up to ride here. He has just got a mechanic sorted and the results are quite obvious and he IS making a difference to the team. Klindt has been bottling first bends for a few seasons now and its obvious the guy is in decline in his career and was a massive gamble by Roscoe but worth a try as is Simon who again has gone no where in the past few seasons after looking a great prospect when he came over a few years back. This rider should be doing better and again worth a punt but needs replacing. Josh Auty or Stuart Robson for me with Robbo getting my vote. Kennett has too many issues off track to ride speedway and needs to give it up. If Simon's average has dropped further then it makes replacing him much harder. Like others say I would welcome giving a new rider a try and someone for the future so may be Douglas would be the man. My take on the draft system is it is totally lop sided and there was never enough equal talent out there to make it work and the clowns that picked National league kids who are way out of their depth need hanging. The damage this is doing to our top Elite division when crowds were already dropping season after season could spell the end for many clubs I feel. Speedway needs a massive overhaul otherwise it will die at Elite league level and this league should be about the top riders in the world and not novices from the national league who would struggle in the premier league. A step to far for many and the blame entirely on who picked the draft riders with lots of good brits missing out.

Great post in total agreement about the draft issue, i would be happy with Auty or Robbo both proper racers has Josh suffered this year by not having the sharpness of EL rides?. He is a 100 per cent racer and he would beat more second strings than Simon has managed so far mainly because he can come from the back something Simon lacks.
