Nigel
I`d also like an EL with all the top guys.................... it`s not gonna happen. Id rather watch British youngsters in reserve than the likes of Dryml, lathi, auty, covatti, ostergaard, summers, north, dyer, grajczonek, ludvig lindgren filling up spots as gorified PL extras. I see your point tho. How long has Auty not been English?

Bagpuss
While I respect the viewpoint of Steve0 and recognise the reserves may put people off this year, I reckon others will appreciate seeing two young British (and in some cases local) lads hopefully improving and giving 100% every week, rather than foreign riders who have been around for a while and aren't ever going to get any better such as some of those stevebrum posted. Personally the prospect of possibly seeing the two Lewis' at reserve for Lynn makes me more inclined to attend more often next year as things currently stand. Add that to the extra and therefore more regular fixtures then we just need to get riders turning up every week and the EL will have much more going for it than it has done for a few seasons. On paper at least. Could really do with the admission cost dropping by a couple of quid too though.

BuzzCagney
Unfortunately guys this is the upshot of a sport that can't pay its way. It is doing this, it seems, with the best of intentions. One, to quite simply survive and two, to bring kids on and create a pool of home riders that will make the sport more sustainable in the future. To wish for things to stay as they have been with every team fielding multiple big names is simply not realistic and would only hasten the demise of Clubs. Of course its not ideal, but its definitely preferable to losing more Clubs. Now its up to the fans to get behind it.

While I agree that costs have to be managed, I don't see how the new rules will encourage more fans to come and watch. It seems like a race to the bottom. Sorry but I think this rule will hasten the demise of clubs as crowds are bound to drop again . Not sure why this will create a new pool of riders because bar a couple most of these are no hopers anyhow ..if you want to create a pool of home riders you do it at grass roots level not just put people like Steve Worral at a El club . Wait to Swindon fans see what riders they get and then start getting beat then your see that the fans won't get behind it .
noggin
I'm all for having two young Brits at reserve, but why not have those places work to an average like the top 5, say 7 for example, and have to be lower than the the 5th placed rider, and will remain in reserve all season, if teams like KL & Coventry have In vested in young riders they should be able to use them if they can fit them in, don't agree with a draft system, I can see why fans are baulkng at attending to see an even more dilluted product for the same money, people pick and choose now, what next year? EnglishRoundabout
I understand your rationale for the crowds not returning orion but I reckon we won't see much difference in crowd size next season compared to last season's attendances. However, a winning side may even increase the enthusiasm, and with more regular speedway, fans continue the 'speedway habit' rather than ridiculous 3 weeks breaks in mid-summer. Swindon have the potential to build a strong top 5 with their mostly their own assets. Rossister has also indicated that there are plenty of riders that want to ride for the Robins, and the future has been assured financially so its not all doom and gloom! Crazy robin
I think I'll be saving lots of money next season as I don't want to see 75 second races & crashes to go with them holding up meetings. Only bringing back Doyley will encourage me to return & that seems very doubtful as well. Yes the season is along way away but there is no real news of any kind coming from Blunsdon & that worries me.

Somebody who is a friend of his & I do know that he is for a fact but as I said before he might be having me on the biggest wind up ever & it could be me who is the fool here. We'll see I suppose but the silence from Blunsdon is worrying.

johnno4
Were you guys there when Kilby & Keen made theit debut for Robins ? A lot of fans were not impressed to begin with.
remembertheracers
Would not the inclusion of Ben Reade and Darryl Ritchings generate interest, both are local boys for Swindon.
