Robins 2014

Recommended Posts

I know this is not about speedway but when reading the above adver column there is a section on the right of the page, most read, click on to the entry Would be muggers chose cage fighters as victim. It is brilliant, two dick heads picked the wrong victim to mug and got what they deserved as well as a prison sentence.

Well it seems from the picture one of the muggers was a man utd fan, so he was only doing what comes naturally!

I have to say, regardless of what the points limit will be, Kildemand, Doyle & Morris is a pretty handy spine to build from, I'd love to keep Doylie at Perry Barr, but I can't see Swindon being that daft.

All about money£.

And hes making more of it with Dudley, than he is with Swindon.

Dudley's an EL club/fanbase operating at NL level, that's the only reason they make profit.

Good luck to Patch for the future. Hopefully the new consortium, Rosco and the Swindon sponsors will keep the club at the top. Were in the Premier 10 years ago. Now established as regular top 4 side under Swindon-boy Rosco's management...superb achievement. Would have finished top if pay problems hadn't affected performances. You can't blame the riders for not riding well if they ain't getting paid. Also unfair on those fanatical Robins fans that pay their hard-earned cash to watch the lack of effort.

A top 3 of Killer Doyley Morra, would be a good start(the Aussies live locally as well).Or Woffy, Ward, Holder, Freddie, Iversen, Zagar, Sayfutdinov!

Is it confirmed Patch has gone? If it is I think its very sad for him that he went out on something of a low. He deserved better.

We couldn't have asked for a more passionate Promoter at Swindon. As to where it went wrong, well, I think the problems started

to set in with all the rain-off's last year. Too many people got out of the Abbey habit after week after week of no-action.

The promotion clearly recognised that they needed a good team to tempt the punters back this season but it would appear they overstretched themselves as the public continued to be disinterested, which was strange given that the Robins were Champs!

And last winter did leave a bad taste in some fan's mouths. Whatever the rights and wrongs of what happened it did look terrible unseemly.

Nobody came out looking great and Speedway was the loser.

Well, here we go again into another winter of uncertainty. The only saving grace is that Tel and Rosco are still about. Whatever happens I think we can trust them to make the right choices.

I know its probably old news but just getting some more info sent to me on proposed new development of Abbey Stadium. Includes business units, residential homes, carehome and rebuild of stadium itself (demolish and rebuild). Proposal start May 2014.Just waiting for more info just to confirm.

Anyone else with news?

i would go for something like...

1. Kildemand

2. Gustafsson

3. Schlein

4. Morris

5. Doyle

6.

7.

not sure with the reserves... if available Howarth would be a must... and if fit maybe Birks...r

I like that side Dumpers. Gustafsson is a must for next season for me. He has stalled over the last few seasons but is still young and there is definite room for improvement. He rides the Abbey superbly too.

Kildemand is clearly a favourite at Swindon but it remains to be seen if Danish riders could fit in Britain if they also ride in Poland and Sweden. Batchelor, Doyle and Morris could be a more effective top three.

Can't see Ashley Birks coming back from his injury and may be forced to retire.

The care home will be next to the road which runs through St Andrews Ridge. There will be residential houses much closer to the stadium.

There is supposed to be a "buffer" of commercial properties between the houses and the stadium, but the developers are trying to get this part of the plan changed.

I'll believe the new stadium when I see it

Oh it'll happen. I just hope the Club is in a strong enough position financially to have some say in the development. We, and speedway in general, are looking somewhat vulnerable to being swept aside as unimportant.

Why would you want Zengota ?, being one of the better Coventry riders isn't something to shout about.

Love him at Coventry. Really hoping hes a bee in 2014.

Guess an asset exchange of Zengi for Kennett is out the question. Maybe Robins could take Barker off our hands.

The last person we want is Barker.
