foreverblue
Agreed. Why is it the obvious answers are never good enough... It is obvious there isn't nearly enough young people getting interested in speedway so why rob the few that already attend? If you made it free until 18 not only would you get much bigger crowds but you'll also get a lot of paying adults in a few years time. But no, we charge them instead and wonder why speedway is on the decline. I wouldn't attend a play off final for any more than £15. It should be cheaper in the play offs, not more expensive. Instead, I will sit at home and watch it on Sky as it won't cost me any extra, I won't need a programme, I'll get free commentary and multiple angles and replays. I can't believe any fan of a team in the play offs would not want to attend, i would be there if it was 25 quid which is what i paid to watch the gp challenge dross. You can't replicate the atmosphere on a television, you have to be there and the play offs will be the best attended meetings so i have no qualms about them making a bit extra. It will be fantastic and i can't wait.
Starman2006
Don't think anyone can really complain about those prices for the FINAL of the "plays off" at all. Look at the stupid prices that people pay for the farcical GP at Cardiff? Compare it to going to watch a top flight premier league football match for 90 minutes!! The price argument comes up each and every year, there are always those who feel they are being ripped off.

I work hard, I pay a lot of bills, and £67 to take the family out is the difference between us eating food this week and not. Without people like me then Sky would have no reason to show speedway and no reason to sponsor the Elite League. Ill be there but its way to expensive. The price is hardly any higher!!!! Think its great value including a programme. Is their any track that guarantees seats anyway?? Is their any track that guarantees seats anyway?? I'd be very suprised if any club gurranteed you a seat, for a play off final, unless you are a season ticket holder or sponsor. Everybody knows the rules especially at Poole as weather permitting we are gurranteed a very big crowd. Get there as early as you can. If you do get there late you can use the Asda car park in holes bay after 6pm, but don't be to late, to avoid disapointment as we do have a capacity, of 140, 000.. SteveLyric2
I believe the price is far to expensive, kids under 15 sould always be free. As a bonus to the fans the play offs should be cheaper than a normal meeting. This is one of my vices with speedway and the main reason crowds are down everywhere. Whatever the price Poole will still WIN though ...and I see it hasn't stopped you from sponsoring the meeting - well done!!!! Maybe you should have suggested your pricing policy before agreeing your meeting sponsor package?! Well if you do bring a coach load, if you got here early enough you could all take yourselves down the Quay for eats, if the weather is nice hopefully, look out the harbour at Brownsea Island and the purbeck hills, whilst sitting outside a pub with eats and a drink. But watch the Seagulls, we've trained them to poo all over and peck the buggery out of away fans!! I agree with you about the pricing for general speedway meetings but not for the play-offs! What some people forget is that most speedway tracks have a maximum capacity limit imposed by the Health and Safety police - which in the past has seen fans locked out!! The last thing any promoter would want is to let loads in for Free and then have paying customers locked outside!! In any case for the Poole leg the prices have not increased - you just get a very good full colour, minimum 48-page programme (which this week will have a very special 60-second interview segment!!!) to help while away the extra half hour waiting time as the gates are due to open at 6pm.

Ah I agree with an exception to the play offs. I retract my previous statement £20 is good value for a match that has less capacity then demand. I dont have sky I would rather watch it live. Cancel sky and watch it live I respect that, and I'd rather watch it live too! But sky sports for a whole month isn't a third of the price it would cost to attend speedway. Don't get me wrong, I attend about 25% of home matches, but when money is very tight and people are relying on you luxuries like speedway have to take the back seat. I understand if you take your family then its alot of money and sky is better value but my kids are older and if they want to go they pay. I am sure the vast majority of fans understand the financial pressures on every pound in the average person's pocket!! Lets hope the BSPA finally recognise that too and do what they can to make the sport more affordable for fans as well as the promoters themselves!!! There are early signs that this MIGHT happen, but as with fans, not all promoters will be in favour!

It is difficult to compare speedway to other sports but is 17 pound for a normal league meeting bad value. What i object to is when they run a meeting like at Swindon the other day and it was abandoned after 7 heats and no refund offered or the one at Belle Vue which should never have gone ahead and those that went have to pay full price. I went to Birmingham for the elite league riders championship, rained off but no refund on the night, alot of fans went home disgruntled, didn't affect me luckily as i waited outside until a decision was made. dontforgetthefueltapsbruv
Aren't a Sky subscription and a Poole season ticket basically the same thing? Seems silly to pay for both if youre fown there on the south coast. (wink)
HeyJude
Brums cost is £20 and £16 for concessions included in that is a £4-00 programme and even better if you book in advance there's another £1 off so all in all very good value. foreverblue
Programmes in general are awful value, some clubs charge 3 quid for a normal league match and i have been to some matches where you still pay 2.50 only to find out its an old programme with a insert. Speedway programmes for normal league matches should be no more than 2 pounds, i can go to a premier league football match and get a programme for 3 quid that has 75 pages!
