Sheffield 2014

Anyone care to engage in a friendly wager on when (not if) Facundo Albin will make his next appearance in Sheffield colours? Maybe my present judgement owes much to this glass of delightful red wine beside my computer, but I'm betting my 50p that we see him again by the middle of July. Anyone care to offer an alternative view?

I Hope Facu is waiting news............

Hi Guys

Recently joined the site and it's my first year back at sheffield for around 14 or 15 years. Hopefully this Thursdays meeting will go ahead and we manage to get a result with a few race rusty riders. I'm not expecting miracles, all I want is 100% from all the riders and no mechanical failures.

Good luck to all and a safe meeting

Who would you leave out for him?

On current form it could be any one of three, but favourite for the chop has to be the Dane. Mind you, the younger aussie and the Suffolk chip-shop owner are also in the frame and could be next in line for a little team re-structuring. For my money, Facu at his best could knock any one of them into a cocked hat.

you're having a laugh! Three of those words are key. AT HIS BEST. We rarely saw his best and to prefer Facu over Lanham or Poole is laughable. Also Given Facus average is only something like 3 and as far as I know he cant speak English or drive, why would you go to all the trouble of finding him a home a van a driver a mechanic an interpreter etc etc for a gamble that hes better than Nielsen. I'll take the 50p bet.

Facu can entertain and was beginning to get the measure of British racing in the latter part of last season. So far, none of the three mentioned have exactly inspired the Owlerton crowd with their derring-do in Sheffield colours. If the losing streak continues I would feel less humiliated if I'd at least been entertained. Leaving Facu out of the team was a mistake IMO.

There is no doubt that Facu was entertaining last season.

But the one thing that became abundantly clear that his equipment was sub standard.

If the new Promotion were to consider bringing him they would need assurances.from Facu himself.

(1) He has invested heavily in some new equipment.

or

(2) He has found a very good sponsor to back him with some new and better equipment.

If the answer to either or both of them questions is no then I think we should forget about bringing him back.

If was planning on coming back on the equipment that he had last year or the equivalent then as exciting as he was we only see a rider who spends all night chasing other riders back wheel.

And at the moment the only rider I would consider dropping for him is Simon Nielsen to suggest the other two is sheer madness..

The problem we have is lack of meetings. Its hard to judge anybody without a good run of meetings.IF Proctor ,Lanham and Poole could get going we can turn our season on its head. They are good enough.Trouble is we have got no momentum.Had we rode all our meetings and lost all the ones that were cancelled then I would expect big changes but as we have lost more to the rain than the opposition I don't think that changes will happen in the near future.

I know personally that two of the riders have invested heavily in new engines , I think it's clear they need track time and we should get behind them. I did not see a meeting last year so don't feel the pain your feeling as supporters but I can imagine how you did, I think it was a Redcar meeting that I walked out after heat 6, when I got home I wish I had stopped. So let's get behind the lads and the promotion who need our support.

Nielsen yes, Poole maybe, but saying Albin is better than Lanham is an absolute joke! At the end of the day once Proctor has got a new average, we'll have a lot more points to play with. And we'd be fools to waste them on dropping Nielsen for Albin. Don't get me wrong,Facu is a good rider and can be pure entertainment. But there's so much more that we can do.

I hope one day we'll see Facu back in Sheffield colours. But not this season.

Totally correct.

Lets look at the fact.

Yes it is the middle of June.

But we have race only 4 times at Sheffield as a team, okay we have lost twice but that was to the same team Scunthorpe who have a team that give any Sheffield team a run for their money at Owlerton.

We have raced 5 times away and won 2 of those meetings we have won at Scunthorpe and a pretty convincing win at Redcar, we were humped at Newcastle (we usually do), beaten at Rye House (we usually do) and to be fair a disappointing performance at Berwick.

But we have made the Semi- Finals of the League cup.

And we have a British Champion in the team.

Not bad for a team that was put together at the very last minute.

Okay things are not perfect at the moment, lets see how far this team can go and lt have a fair crack at the whip before we start to write them off.
