Sheffield 2014

Anybody heard if Taylor Poole ok after crash last night at Ipswich ?

Looked in a little pain after the meeting. Wrist a bit sore I think. Hopefully nothing that a day or two of rest wont sort.

Tay got a deserved warm welcome back at Foxhall as did Leigh(awarded rider of the night) Good luck to them both.

Today's Sheffield Star:-

Golden oldie Sam Ermolenko says he can surprise a few when he appears in Sheffield’s opening meeting of the season this Thursday.

The 1993 World Champion remains a favourite with Tigers fans after a spectacular spell with the club in 1996.

Now, aged 53, he’s agreed to return to competitive racing for the Air Fence fund raiser at Owlerton with all proceeds going to the installation of the new safety barrier.

Said Ermolenko: “I rode in some fundraising events last year and I’ve been on the bike already this year. The new consortium at Sheffield are people I have a lot of respect for, and the call came from them to see if I was interested in riding in their season opener. They saw that I’d been riding at Wolverhampton’s practice session last Wednesday and decided to see if I fancied participating.

“It’s not going to be a hugely competitive thing but I’m happy to go out there and help. I’m a regular visitor at Sheffield so I’m pleased to help in what should be an entertaining meeting to raise money for the new fence. The promoters accept the fact I’m not going to stick my neck on the line but I’ll be going out there to enjoy myself, have some fun and hopefully I’ll be fairly competitive.

“I might possibly surprise a few people. In speedway, he who hesitates gets in trouble and I understand that. I’ll go out there focusing on the fact I’m next to three other guys with the goal of getting to that first corner first. If I can get ahead then I’m sure I’ll be able to hold my own, and I’m looking forward to getting back racing again even if it’s just a one off.”

Great news Sudden Sam is having a spin still got it and would love to race regularly but for the fact of all the old injuries he's had ,still hope he keeps going in these one offs for while yet .

Just been down to Owlerton to watch the ' Air fence Bonanza' and until the obligatory rain came was really enjoying it.

But I have to say we paid £2 for a program and what a complete rip off. Ok if you want to charge for a programme please put a little content into it. Very unprofessionally written and full of grammatical errors. Why not get it proof read it before printing.

So please, either go back to the race card or if you wish to charge for a programme be a little more professional.

Thanks for saving the club though!!

I have just been to the Air fence Bonanza. Cameron Woodward was head and shoulders above the rest. I thought the attendance was a little disappointing, especially with the meeting being held to help fund the air fence.

I think the professionalism probably went when they dumped the person who actually saved the club!

I thought the people who saved the club were the people who put the money in and bought the club, as far as I see it, they are all still there.

Sure there will be teething troubles as there are with all new businesses, but considering the amount of time the new consortium have had, they are doing a pretty good job.

One away win already, that's one more than was managed last season !!!

Totally agree they are doing a dam good job so far and i am sure the programme will improve over time once fans have their input and they improve through customer feedback !

Also well done to referee/promotion and riders for a speedy decision when the heavy rain did arrive instead of keeping fans waiting like sometimes happend in past.

As for the meeting i really enjoyed it until rain put a stop to it, Woodward was a class above and was deserved winner.

Absolutely spot on with those words.

The consortium are doing a fantastic job

The feel good fact is definitely back, I saw one or two faces that I have not seen for a few seasons, although the crowd was disappointing, but if the team can keep up the winning ways they will drift back.

Okay the programme on first impressions won't win awards, but looking at the way the consortium has listened to the supporters and what they have to say.

Question is what would you rather have?

The best programme in the league.

or challenge for the Play Offs.

Do believe we all need to back the club for it to prosper. Let's all see if we can get our stay away friends back to Owlerton.

I also noticed that on the fixtures page for the website, April 24th now listed as British Semi. As I only noticed this today (April 1st) on the same day it was announced Sam Ermolenko making a comeback for Tigers, just wondered if this is correct or another April 1st announcement.
