piston197
Just looked at the list of riders and averages in the fantasy league and Brady Kurtz is at 3.00 ?? is in fact a 5.00 ,should be a 7.00, won't be many fantasy league teams without him at 3.00 methinks? Steve55
So opening night (27th March) is the 'Air Fence Bonanza'. Steady, Ash Birks and Rory Schlein first three confirmed riders in the individual meeting. Can't wait for the season to get started!
Halifordukesfan
Air fence should eradicate a lot of the 'fence repair/thank-you for your patience' delays we've become accustomed to these last few years.

Normally fence has been fixed quite quick, it is the wait for a transfer to arrive to take a rider to hospital and get doctor available again.

Steve55
Which is why I think every track should have two ambulances in attendance.I agree with what you're saying, but also for the reason that there are four riders on the track at any one time, god forbid, there being a serious incident involving all four, one ambulance is not enough. It wouldn't make a lot of difference at Sheffield though (don't know about other tracks), but as someone's already stated, they have to wait for the doctor to be back on station before the meeting can continue. Also I've seen instances where it's taken an age to repair/replace the air fence after an incident.
Halifaxtiger
Â Which is why I think every track should have two ambulances in attendance. Â Absolutely spot on. I think this should be compulsory (as afar as I am aware only Newcastle and Plymouth comply). Â When Ash Birks was injured at Plymouth last year, the delay was around 15 minutes while they repaired the fence. At Rye House when Tom Perry was injured, it was nearly 2 hours. Look at the delays at the 4's at Peterborough. Â While fans appreciate that there will be delays when a rider is injured, if steps can be taken to avoid ridiculously long periods of time they should be. As far as I am concerned, this can, in most cases, be achieved.
4thbender
Air fence should eradicate a lot of the 'fence repair/thank-you for your patience' delays we've become accustomed to these last few years. On the subject of delays, I find it objectionable that racing should be held up to accommodate the setting sun. This is a recent phenomenon creeping into meetings in June and July at Owlerton. Two seasons ago more 'racing hours' were lost at Owlerton due to the sun than were lost due to rain! Â Doug Wyer wryly observed that in his day the problem was resolved by using shaded goggles - it's that simple! Â The new promotion should take notice of the fact that the one factor that is likely to drive away hardened fans like me is the interminable, frustrating exasperation of delays whilst fences are mended, riders are carted off or the sun sinks below the horizon. We paying customers don't part with our hard-earned cash to watch the tractor go round!

Two seasons ago more 'racing hours' were lost at Owlerton due to the sun than were lost due to rain!  Doug Wyer wryly observed that in his day the problem was resolved by using shaded goggles - it's that simple!  The new promotion should take notice of the fact that the one factor that is likely to drive away hardened fans like me is the interminable, frustrating exasperation of delays whilst fences are mended, riders are carted off or the sun sinks below the horizon. We paying customers don't part with our hard-earned cash to watch the tractor go round!  Note to the new promotion..... Please memo the following:-  1. The Sun - Its presence at Owlerton on a Thursday evening is absolutely forbidden, unless being shaded by a big black rain cloud 2. The riders - Under no circumstance should riders fall off their bikes. They are highly paid professional sportsmen and as such, falling off and possibly damaging themselves, their equipment and the newly installed airfence, causing much delay, shall NOT be tolerated. 3. Topless tractor racing may go a long way to reducing the boredom should the above points fail to be adhered to.... 4. Halfords to be on standby with 12 dozen foot pumps and a puncture repair kit to speed up any running repairs to the airfence  ps Think you may find that there is a ruling against the use of tinted goggles  Have a nice day
Blackadder
Jim McGregor made the riders carry on despite the sun, so other referees can do the same. Don't they have issues with the sun in other countries?
