SteveLyric2
One massive difference is that Havelock is a bit of a pratt where as Screeny isn't How close are the Sheffield pits to the bar??!
scunny1
From what I can glean of the Sheffield line up it looks a strong team and defo one of the league contenders. Good luck to our local rivals, but don't to gel as a team until after the Scorpions opening match with you Tigers!
Steve55
Josh Bates is a up and coming rider from BarnsleyHeard from a source in Scunthorpe that Josh Bates has a relative who is a member of the consortium that's taken over the Tigers and that it was a condition of their involvement that Josh ride for Sheffield! Might be a load of Bull, probably is, but he didn't do very well at Scunny last year did he! Think he'll have a better chance of developing at Sheffield rather than Swindon, more local involvement, might be more chance of new sponsors! SCB
So Colin Pratt, Eric Boocck, Neil Middleditch, Phil Morris, Rosco, Chris Louis, Gary & Brian Havelock, Len Silver are no good, plus I am sure I missed a few. You're scraping the barrel if you're listing Havvy.,
Sparky from Sheffield
2+2=5 One massive difference is that Havelock is a bit of a pratt where as Screeny isn'tAnother is that Havvy has had a major injury that finished his career and hes still coping with.It
Steve55
My point is this: Joe Screen (bless his heart) has been master of the shale sport for twenty-five years; he's thrilled us all, climbed to the highest heights and seen off many pretenders to his throne. But when it comes to management, he's an APPRENTICE! I hope with all my heart that he wins the league in his first season and stays with Sheffield long enought to turn it into the legendary team of the twenty-first century...... but the jury's out. And my point is this: Joe Screen has been a master of the shale sport for 25 years, so he's got to be one hundred times better at managing a speedway team than a retired Police Inspector (as good as his intentions have been over the last two years!) Looks like Joe will have a better septet to deal with than Nigel did over the last two years, but IMO this has got to be one of the best moves Sheffield has made in the last three years!

tigerowl
If Taylor Poole is joining the Tigers then it will certainly be an entertaining side. Any team with Stead, Roynon, Poole and Compton in it will be worth watching no matter what the league position.
proud panther
Taylor Poole lodged at a house 3 doors from me when he last rode over here, & I havent seen him yet. Hope he is coming back, because he is a lovely lad, & a snip on a 6 point average if he steers clear of injury. Would have liked him back with Panthers. Deanyboy
Im sure that was his final rolling average. He may qualify for a reduction as he has missed a whole season. Don't think he will as mason campton had a season out due to visa probs and came back this year with the same 4.69 average but you never know Im sure that was his final rolling average. comet49
There's only a reduction after missing one full season if it's due to injury.
Cue Ball
Poole and Lanham it is.... 5 down, 2 to go. If I'm being honest, I'm not sure Lanham would have been my first choice, would prefer to see somebody younger and up and coming, but he does bring experience to the side and will no doubt be of benefit when we are on the road. Charlieboy
Lanhams had some good and bad meetings at Sheffield, when he gates he takes some catching and pooles a decent signing if he can return to form after missing last season. My main worry is how many riders weve got returning from injury or missing last season. On paper it looks a side capable of being up the top end and at least its being freshened up. I think we can use the cup matches to get back into the swing of things,if we qualify further its a bonus.Doing well in the league is the main aim. piston197
Congratulations to Sheffield in the signing of Leigh Lanham, good solid performer, genuine guy, has been there and done it, raced in all conditions without whinging , including winter meets, imparts good team spirit, and delivers when it matters, Leigh won't let you down, well done
dontforgetthefueltapsbruv
Great to see Leigh sorted. Solid ultra professional and a great team man. All the best mate! The return of Tay much less expected. Terrible luck with injuries but if he can come back without being troubled by them then he could be a bargain signing. I think Bruv still has the Chuggington scooter all set up and ready to go if you need it!
CardinalSin
Great to see Lanham fixed up, and surprised to see Poole back. He's on a bargain average for me and I'd have certainly taken him back at Ipswich this season. Under the guidance of Stead and Screeny this team could do some damage ! Hats off to the promotion, very happy indeed.
Bradford Ace
How many points does it leave for the last spot, presuming Andre is one of the 2 left to be confirmed??
OdsalBoy
I reckon the final two will be : Compton/ Albin Compton/ Koppe But what does everyone else think ?
