Blackadder
Some light reading in the Sheffield Star. Leigh Lanham is set to return to work in the family fish and chip shop because of a shocking series of rained-off meetings for Sheffield. Lanham is a full-time rider but only races for the Tigers with no double-up Elite League club or foreign contract in Sweden or Poland to fall back on. And following the latest Owlerton washout, it means the Suffolk racer has only ridden three meetings in a month, all away from home. Now he’s ready to return to peeling spuds to earn a few pennies before returning to track action against Glasgow at Owlerton next Thursday. He said: “One of the family is on holiday so I’m going into help, but the extra income will be welcome. This is possibly the worst run of rain-offs I’ve known in 20 years. It’s so frustrating. “I feel sorry for the Sheffield management because they are new to it all and must be wondering what they have done to deserve this. We haven’t been able to get going and I suspect we are going to have a fixture backlog. My Dad has had the chip shop for 25 years and I help out occasionally, I worked in there when I was a kid, but I’m back there next week. “And hopefully when I get back racing next week Sheffield can batter the opposition in the bread and butter of league racing! “My wife works which is good, but as a full-time rider if I’m not racing then I’m not earning any money. It’s a nightmare.” Sheffield chief Damien Batessaid: “I am very disappointed again we fell foul of the weather. Riders need to race as they are not getting into a rhythm.” He added: “Hopefully the weather will get better so we all can enjoy a great night of racing next Thursday when Glasgow are in town.”

RS50
At least four home matches to re-arrange, and only three blank Thursdays before "Reserved for play offs" ( I assume something will be arranged for these blank dates). Be nice if the management could give us some ideas as to their plans (double headers or racing on an alternative night)
Lioness
I think there are quite a few teams in that situation which could make it even harder to arrange them

Tsunami
I think there are quite a few teams in that situation which could make it even harder to arrange them Surely they (BSPA)must move the deadline back for the Playoffs as everyone has been affected. Be nice if the management could give us some ideas as to their plans (double headers or racing on an alternative night) 3 of the 4 home meetings postponed have been the KO Cup tie v Berwick, so that only counts as one match to re-arrange plus the Workington match

spin king
what is Sheffields alternative race day As far as I know we don't have one, but think we can run the occasional Monday nights.
RS50
what is Sheffields alternative race day I believe it was Monday lay year but could have changed with new management and also to avoid clashes with Wolves matches
Charlieboy
It has generally been Monday over the years with occasional sundays but the eagles play sunday so would have to be when they are away.
4thbender
Anyone care to engage in a friendly wager on when (not if) Facundo Albin will make his next appearance in Sheffield colours? Maybe my present judgement owes much to this glass of delightful red wine beside my computer, but I'm betting my 50p that we see him again by the middle of July. Anyone care to offer an alternative view?
