Sheffield 2014

Recommended Posts

That was Stefan he finished with a 4.90 average, but would qualify for a 2.5% reduction for been a young Brit.

He won the U19s at Sheffield the other year, I assume that is what is being referred to?

He finished on a 4.70 average, 4.58 with the NL reduction.

Great to see Taylor back in the UK (hopefully!), one of the thoroughly nice guys in the sport. He's had a torrid couple of years with injuries but if he's overcome those, he has the potential to become a strong heat leader.

just a person who seen him loads, as I say, I don't see a tiger who will score a max

Steady round Owlerton most weeks, not forgetting he got a max at Berwick last season winning most of the races by quarter of a lap after not visiting the place for years.

And at Sheffield Adam Roynon.

Compton will be pretty strong round Owlerton if does sign so may throw a few in and Taylor Poole once settled in will throw odd one in over season.

It looks like a side full of potential for me and for first time in a few seasons i cannot wait for new season and by going on odd post on twitter seems a few lost fans over last few years will be returning.

New Promotion thumbs up so far !

I disagree on Compton, he will be much better than his average at home and on or a little above away. He came in late last season, un-prepared, probably unfit and under financed, to plug a gaping hole in a sinking ship.Compton over Albin anyday, even though he was one of the brighter elements of last season, if not on points, certainly on effort & never give up attitude.

one thing Andre wouldn't have been is under financed... :)

He was a great rider at PL level and would be great for him to come back anywhere near, but I doubt it. Has the makings on paper of a very good side, but question marks over most signed so far, and as a speedway fan and human being i really worry about Roynon...time will tell I suppose.... But hey least there plenty room to change if needed and speedway continues at Owlerton after much doubt.

Compton in home meeting against Somerset at end of season showed he could still mix it with best in league and on dated bikes with stuff was still learning in regards to silencers etc

With a full winter to prepare and improved bikes i can see him being great for us again, maybe not reach the high standards of years gone by but will do a solid job and his experience will be great for likes of Josh Bates.

For me start of a new era, and the new Promotion seem to have capture everyones imagination the hardcore supporters like myself and the floating supporters,

Neil Machin was a man of his time and he did a hell of a lot for the club, and we should never ever forget that, but the sport has moved on and having one man band Promoters will be a rare commodity in the future in my opinion, and feel that Neil did the right thing for the club and himself as I think the club had lost its way a wee bit. But the days of one man footing the bills and trying to make a sports club a profit are thing of the past in my opinion and the way to go is through a consortium to run clubs for the future.

The new Promotion have made some excellent choices and decisions in my opinion in the short space of time that they have had the club and like many others have said and like everyone else has said after months of uncertainty and worry I now feel very positive about my speedway club

Looking at the league with the exception of Workington and Scunthorpe who are the stand out teams in the league the rest of us are all pretty evenly matched and for me the 4 other play off places could go to anyone in the league..

The last two signings I think will be Andre Compton, and if I am hoest I would love to see Stefan Nielsen grab the last spot would give us a good balance of experience and youth.
