In all the press and website reports I've read there doesn't seem to be any Sheffield or independent confirmation that Sheffield are actually in negotiations with Nick Morris. They have mentioned being in talks with a foreign rider (or two)who haven't ridden for the club before. Lanham is also mentioned by name and could be a quality acquisition for this years team. Albin seems to have faded from the picture over the last week or so, which I think would be a waste of having him last year. The lads got something about him that makes me want to get him back. He's having mixed fortunes in the Argentine Championship at present, still having problems with his machinery, but second overall by one point to Covatti!

There's lots of apparent hysteria surrounding the Morris situation, especially from the Swindon fans plus others who have been on the verge of libellous comments towards a certain individual, who has seen fit to post in response to those comments - and rightly so. This hasn't been helped by the wind-up posts of the Sheffield fans who have been getting some big bites!

I'd love it if he ended up riding for Poole and Peterborough! But I think we all know where he probably will end up.

I am not confused at all but yes your probably right that I don't know you that well, What I do know well is how your organisation works having had years of personal experience.

So impress me, make me change my mind, let's see the BSPA operate in an open, honest and up front way and let's have a rule book that's clear and cannot be interpreted to suit any particular person or club.

So you cast aspersions around on Hoggart's character then admit:

1. You don't know him that well

2. You have a history of issues with the BSPA; not connected to Hoggart or Sheffield

I don't think anyone has to impress you or make you change your mind; I think you need to go away and think before you type; because you clearly have some personal issues that you are taking out on the wrong person and the wrong club.

One question: in all those 'years of personal experience' did you make every effort to make the BSPA 'open, honest and up front' ?

If you did, fine.

If not, given the position you state above why not ?

I ask because in my experience (and being uncharacteristically cynical) there have been a fair number who have ranted on about the BSPA's practices when decisions have not gone their way or when they are no longer part of that organisation but were absolutely complicit in the same sort of decisions when it suited them or they were involved.

Nick Morris is a good rider but I'd rather have someone who just rides for Sheffield. I'm sick of all this doubling up nonsense with Jason Doyle being number one at Leicester AND Somerset and Craig Cook captain of Edinburgh AND Belle Vue (I think).

It's just stupid and needs putting a stop to.

Pedantic point - Cookie is not Edinburgh captain!

With Peterborough only having 7.77 remaining for their final rider that rules Morris out on a 8.84. Sheffield with 25.36 to play with for 5riders , taking Morris on his average leaves 16.52 for 4 riders could see Sheffield ending up with a very long tail

compton 4.36, albin 3.62 still leaves 8.54 for 2 riders !!! (koppe just over 3 ) leaves 5ish

I have emailed and complained to both the BSPA and SCB when the need arises but found the BSPA office very poor in the way it conducts itself and know promoters that have fared little better.

As for decisions that have gone our way I struggle over the last decade to remember any although being fair their must be the odd occasion.

I think the basic problem is the BSPA don't feel the need to change or certainly the ones pulling the strings don't.

'When the need arises' ?

Surely if you want the BSPA to be 'honest, open and upfront' it would be an ongoing campaign, not the odd occasion when something crops up ?

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the MC elected by promoters ? If they thought things were poor, why hasn't the membership been changed ?

As I said before, I have found members of the BSPA to be complicit in the corrupt practices that blight our sport until such time as it suits them otherwise, when they rail against them. Your post has done absolutely nothing to change my mind, and I suspect that Hoggy's comments are spot on.

Klaus Jakobsen has just posted up on his facebook page that he Needs sponsors

Is he on his way back?

Well there's only Sheffield that requires riders in British speedway and he is a Sheffield asset! Could it be he wants sponsors in his homeland if he's riding over there this year? There's been no mention of him coming to Sheffield and to be honest I personally would wish it to remain that way.
