chunky
I've just realised I mentioned some of those above over five years ago! ...and I mentioned some of those just a few days ago! Steve
iris123
I think as far as unforgettable names go,it is hard to beat Danish rider Shanchajan Vasantharajan But for some reason i love the fact that there is a Swedish rider called Jimmy Hyl Wonder if he has a big chin? arnieg
I rather like the sound of the Hard brothers of Swedish Division One team Eldarna. And on a slightly different tack how about pairing American Brad Sauer with former Eastbourne rider Gary Sweet
chunky
And on a slightly different tack how about pairing American Brad Sauer with former Eastbourne rider Gary Sweet Okay, we could be heading towards a totally different thread now... How about Henry Long and Gerald Short? Steve

Parsloes 1928 nearly
Someone has mentioned Raymond Humphries already aka Tyburn Gallows in the years gone by section it does say how he got the name. Changed by deed pole as he was the last apprentice hangman at Tyburn. Hmm, five and half years ago and no-one has picked up on shazzy's amazing gaffe...!! The gallows at Tyburn was last used in 1783!!! I know the Canterbury Crusaders liked picking the odd old-timer but surely not someone over 200 years old!!! A more modern example has slipped thru' the net to date: that young Aussie, elder brother of Sam, named by parents who'd presumably been celebrating the birth of their first-born son a little too hard: Corey Dore!!!! psymon
One of the current Coventry Cougars (who sometimes ride in the second half) is the wonderfully named Dakota North. I started watching speedway back in the early 70's at Rye House where the riders had good sensible names like Dingle Brown and Tiger Beech
DK Rides Again
I always thought, as a kid, that you needed a 'different' name to be a speedway rider and still, to this day, I hear the occasional name and think "he should've been in speedway!" My perrenial favourites are Wimbledon second halvers, Pip Austen and Rocky Couttes (does anyone know what happened to Rocky, I've asked a couple of times and never got an answer). I also like the sound of Jerran Hart (I presume he's no relation?). Edited August 4, 2009 by DK Rides Again
