Guest Posted July 5, 2015 Report Share Posted July 5, 2015 This has never been confirmed to me, but a speedway contact tells me that Ralph Horne - a jockey turned speedway rider - and especially active at Belle Vue, Coventry, Belfast and Wigan between 1946-51 was nicknamed 'Shoe' by some supporters! Out of interest Trible H - did or have you ever ridden a speedway bike? By the way, the said JH was advised at some California sessions by the previously mentioned Ron How, and also Maury McDermott, George Bason, Stan and Jim Tebby, and Al Holliday. I know you didn't ask me, but I got to know Vic very well in his later days. He sent me some good old photos of Clacton as he used to holiday there in his younger days!
