Bagpuss
Fen Tigers 1 Nielsen 2 R/R 3 Bates 4 Baseby 5 Halsey 6 Mountain 7 Rumsey Young Stars 1 Worrall 2 R/R 3 Mallett 4 Knight 5 Hughes 6 Waldron 7 Bailey Once again the Young Stars head to West Row with more than half the side absent for one reason or another. Need to keep it within ten points to have a chance of winning the tie IMO which appears a tall order. Good luck lads.
rhidassa
Unfortunately not able to attend this meeting, but hope it's a good, safe meeting for everyone and Lynn do what nobody expects and win!
tellboy
Was looking forward to going to this meeting, but with all the absences it has a feel of a normal EL meeting.Bit disappointed but if my daughter still wants to I will go,if she don't I won't simples. whippy
even with a depleted team we still have to go and support them. winter is long without speedway so we are making the most of it and it is a day out for us too !! Bagpuss
Bearing in mind the main purpose of the NL its great to see Connor Mountain and Josh Bailey racing in opposition tomorrow and getting their chance in an important meeting.
Bagpuss
What an excellent effort by the Young Stars today against a rather top heavy Fen Tigers side. That final heat 1-5 takes the shine off a little but it sets the second leg up perfectly.
Daniel Smith
To only lose by 8 is a terrific result by the Young Stars. Wasn't at all expected without Kerr and Lambert Back to the NA for the second leg Wednesday for the Young Stars to smash Mildenhall back to Suffolk

Will be tight on Wednesday but I'd make the Young Stars slight favourites as I don't see Halsey being anywhere near as effective around the NA. We really need the engine room of Mallett & Knight to step up to the plate, they don't win enough races considering their experience and Wednesday would be a great time to put that right. MrMungo
Had Lambert & Kerr ridden today then the Young Stars would have had the tie well under control IMO. You could also say the same about Mildenhall having to go with 2 rookie 3 pointers, Baggy! Add in a basic 6 from 6 for Rumsey and Mildenhall could be taking a 20 point lead to the Norfolk Arena! It's all swings and roundabouts.
Bagpuss
I could, and I could have mentioned Lynn having one too glad that its an eight point lead rather than twenty as it would have made Wednesday a bit of a non event. As it stands it couldn't be poised any better really. Certainly not moaning about Lambert & Kerr being absent, great for their careers that they were racing elsewhere at a higher level. Developing young riders is what the NL is all about after all.

Parsloes 1928 nearly
Debatable that Lambert was riding at a higher level... I assume he was in Germany where he's been most weekends..

Bagpuss
So are you saying the two guests didn't do a good job? Its a pity lambert doesn't do more away meetings Worrall did a great job covering for Lambert, as did Hughes for Rose but R/R for Kerr only accrued five points when Lewis would probably have been in double figures. Certainly is a pity that Lambert doesn't ride in the weekend away meetings but its been known from the beginning that he's committed to racing on the continent most weekends against more experienced riders which must be doing him more long term good. What is a shame is that he Ian't considered mature enough to ride in higher leagues here

This is the great myth though isn't it. Check out the quality of the field young Robert rode in (and unsurprisingly.., won) in the Netherlands (Golden Helmet at Veenoor) at the weekend and you'll see that no way was it such a high class/experienced field... I believe for the longer term (when league racing is so important to a young rider's career and development) he'd have gained a lot more from riding in an important meeting like the away leg of a Play Off semi.

He obviously has had his comitments abroad sorted early on,so why should he ride here and let the others down.I like his ambition especially by going abroad so he could get competitive racing from a young age.
