Redcar V Newcastle Pl Play Off Thursday 26th September

This is what the season is all about, the playoffs. The best teams fight it out at the end of the season. Redcar need to win their home matches so this match will be about Newcastle coming down the A19 looking to pick up a win in the opening match of this group of 3 teams.

Hoping for a good match, be fun to boo Mr Worrall from start to finish, although I fully expect him to hit a max - will be happy with a one point win!

To have any chance of winning the group, Newcastle, quite simply, have to get something out of this match.

I Doubt we will get anything at Somerset and we have to hope we do better than the Rebels at STMP.

It may all come down to race points difference to determine the group winners.

Does anyone know if Chris Schramm is fit to race? I see from Speedway update website he was withdrawn from the Silver Ski individual event on Monday.

Yes I noticed that too. Hope he is ok and can take his place in tonight's match

Game over then! The PLPO format really needs looking at. Newcastle now potentially face (like last season) two home meaningless PO fixtures if Somerset gain a point at Redcar. Hardly the excitement the PO's are supposed to generate.

Agree and you beat me to it. It's a stupid ill thought out format (what a shock in speedway). As you say the two home matches are pretty much dead rubbers with defeat at Somerset inevitable. Will be very difficult to promote and two poor crowds on probably cold nights will cost the club money.

Good performance from Redcar and good luck to them although I think Somerset will win this group easily.

In all honesty unless there were mitigating circumstances; and I mean injury and not bike problems; that was a shocking performance from the Diamonds after Lewis gave us such a good start. Two riders in particular have let us down badly and possibly even kissed goodbye to team places for 2014.

Really disappointing night for the club. Was always going to be tough with r/r but talking nothing away from Redcar that was awful.

So the two underdog teams go and make a huge upset tonight, and the PLPO format needs looked at !!! Some people think their teams just need to turn up , just like Ippo tonight, how wrong were they. A Worky-Redcar final , mmmmmm, now that would shut a few up especially the ones further south ;-)
