Pirates 2014

Recommended Posts

Gavan it was me that introduced the Chris Holder average (9.25 - when he got injured), as the argument/opinion as to who was the 'better' rider seemed to be taking the route of who had the highest average and therefore who was the better rider? ie Darcy or Tai?

I was trying to illustrate that averages can be misleading as well as also giving an indication as to the best rider at any given time. Holder's finishing EL average of 9.25 therefore makes him a better rider than Tai, Darcy or NKI!!! Fact!! or is it?! :D

As this is a Poole Pirates 2014 thread, then I'm entitled to ask/state/wind-up? surely?! :D

What was Darcy's EL average when he got injured - less than 7.00 I believe...

you lot will be eating cardboard come next October...

So you keep on saying, but its irrelevant as the discussion is about who is the best rider right now, not in nine months time. Most people would agree that Darcy could potentially be the best rider in the world for several years if he can behaves correctly off track, starting in 2014.

But based on 2013 he isn't yet.

Yeh, but this time next year, some won't be murmuring a word...

Tai rode the 2nd half of the season injured! I wonder what his average wouldve been fully fit!

I wonder what Darcys average would have been and his GP standing would have been had he not got injured...

Michael Lee rode for Poole in 1983 and the start of 1984 until he got his infamous 5 year ban for allegedly riding round the track the wrong way (at Kings Lynn I think).

Easy to get confused up there...

I think Ward is the better talent but Tai is not far behind him on that front and has his head screwed on a little more.

Tai improved so much last year, and a lot of his wins came from the back. It will be hard to maintain that level but he is so focused to do it again.

Ward & Holder are not going to be part of the Hagon set up in 2014. Wonder if this will effect them.

Interesting discussions develop from various threads though, its related to Poole so I don't see the problem. You just need to ignore the usual pillocks.

Probably after the teams have been scrutinised at the next bspa meeting vikstar. I have a feeling all is not well, possibly because a few have spat their dummies out over vaclav milik.

You're no idiot Sidney, just a man with an opinion.

Just to add my threepence worth to the discussion, Woffy did it when mattered. and that what counts.

Although the points count towards the total in all the heats, they are not the be all you expect come, the semis and final. Most riders are only concerned of getting enough points to get to the finals. It is these 3 heats that really count.

When Looking at them races, how many finals did Darcy miss out on ? how many times did he come third in a semi? and that's the reason he wasn't World Champion.

Woffy done it when it mattered.. .

Of course Darcy is an exceptional talent, but in this company you can't give the other riders a start and expect to always come from the back. For Darcy to contemplate being a WC is has to be a better gater, with a much higher success of trapping.

15 in the heats is better than sneaking a semi with 7 then having a second and a win. The semi and final is no more important than any other race.

Dearly me Shovlar you getting quite sad and pathetic. If holder had have finished the season he could have been best rider. The discussion is between ward and tai. You have been presented with facts you choose to ignore as you always do. Quite clearly Ward isn't as successful as Tai or NKI and your defence is laughable, you keep saying ignore me and Brum but there are others on here saying the same as well but you ignore it. A true speedway fan not a blue tint would say ' in 2013 tai was the best rider in the world but hopefully in 2014 Darcy will be ' but no you can't say it and if I was a Poole fan I would be annoyed that a fool like you was representing my team. The decent Poole fans like skidder red panda foreverblue must just cringe when you post crap

Crikey I didn't realise that Neil Middleditch was part of Michael Lee's career going off the rails. What a track record he has of helping keep young riders on the straight & narrow:-)
