Pirates 2014

I personally believe that Woffy would have won the World Title anyway even if Darcy and Noddy had been fit. Darcy wasn't quite experienced, mature or ready enough last year (but may well be this season) while I don't think Holder would have retained the crown. Emil is the one who could have denied Tai but his knack of being in the wrong place at the wrong time continues to cost him.

Darcy probably starts as favourite for 2014 and could go on to win half a dozen titles , he's that talented BUT we said that about Michael Lee.

There is a lot of "what ifs" being chucked around on here at the moment, and it's rather amusing to read. Consistency, mechanical performance, injuries, and luck are key variables to a riders finishing position at the end of the gp series.

Whilst I don't think it is unreasonable to say ward could be better than tai, you cannot take it away from tai that he came through in the end at #1.

Tai's achievements surprised alot of fans last year, and even alot of fans were suggesting it was wrong to award him a wild card during the 2012 winter! Half a season later, a british title and a gp win under his belt,a world title at the end, he is the toast of the nation and gods gift.

I like Tai. It's fantastic for British speedway to have a world champion representing us. For me, I thought emil was nailed on to win it though. Machinery and luck cost him though.

Food for thought. If it was gollob t-boning woffinden in Sweden, we would have Jarek as a world champion and most likely the same drivel. Would NKI finished 3rd if emil had stayed fit?

Doubt it.

So it's a fact that Holder is the best rider in the world using Brum and gavans twisted logic. Like it!

twisted logic! Are you that thick! Best average world champion doesn't make you the better rider? Get a grip shovlar you are getting pathetic now. Does Holder have a higher el average than Tai? If he does then there is an opinion he could be classed as best but we are talking bout Ward here. You almost single handedly with your inane comments are partly the reason Poole are disliked.

Gavan it was me that introduced the Chris Holder average (9.25 - when he got injured), as the argument/opinion as to who was the 'better' rider seemed to be taking the route of who had the highest average and therefore who was the better rider? ie Darcy or Tai?

I was trying to illustrate that averages can be misleading as well as also giving an indication as to the best rider at any given time. Holder's finishing EL average of 9.25 therefore makes him a better rider than Tai, Darcy or NKI!!! Fact!! or is it?! :D

As this is a Poole Pirates 2014 thread, then I'm entitled to ask/state/wind-up? surely?! :D

Fact for Steve Shovlar not opinion

Sweden - 2012

Ward 7.94

Iversen 9.22

Woffinden 6.00

Sweden - 2013

Ward 8.73

Iversen 8.71

Poland - 2012

Ward 7.36

Iversen 8.52

Woffinden 6.30

Poland - 2013

Ward 7.62

Iversen 9.46

Woffinden 9.33

UK - 2012

Ward 9.76

Iversen 8.84

Woffinden 8.80

UK - 2013

Ward 9.07

Iversen 9.12

Woffinden 9.20

Clearly shows from FACTS that Iversen is many steps ahead of Ward. Ward is still young and has all the potential to be better but right now he's not. In 2013 Woffinden shows as the biggest improver too. These are facts, enjoy them Steve

Darcy is a team rider and often finishes second to his partner. Means a lower average

Meanwhile back on topic, are Pirates going to win the league again in 2014? Looking good!

Injuries, and avoiding them, are part of the sport. There've been any talented riders who haven't fulfilled potential because of injuries.

Or it could mean Darcy's crap at gating and crashing lots from over riding which was very paramount in 2013
