Pirates 2014

I think a rule is needed to ensure that the Turbo Triplets (Chris, Darcy and Greg) are all able to be on the team for 2014. And I think for the good of the sport add in KK to boot as its not fair on paying fans when he rides for other teams when he only is guaranteed to try for one.

I have an idea.

Let's have a HOT LAP!

4 riders on the track, After every lap.. The rider in last is eliminated.

This means more excitement, Riders are more likely to go for moves in every lap.. = More entertainment for fans.

We've done this in California as a half time show. Obviously cant be a part of the match but its an example of the creative touches that could exist in the UK to add some show.

Great idea, as long as Poole can afford them all.... Can only increase the crowds at all the tracks they visit.

Its a win win for everybody. Or perhaps allow a rule where Poole can sign any 7 riders they want but to give everyone else a chance David Moyes has to be Middlo's joint team manager.

Great idea would certainly even things up a tad.

Been done...back in the late eighties/early nineties...it was called the one lap dash or something similar, I believe it was an idea that was first done in Australia.

I do feel that we're drifting slightly from the point here as well as on the wrong thread. You mentioned music, what was your suggestion?

It should be brought back.

It provides excitement.

The rider eliminated in 4th gets nothing

Rider in 3rd gets £500

Rider in 2nd gets £1000

Winner gets £5000

Ward has said this article was the first he had heard about it.

At least this way it would hopefully make the new league an even playing field

Why would riders be amongst the first to know?! They sign up elsewhere first anyway.

One interesting point is if they don't get jobs in UK next year, can they still get a UK visa??

Not if they are not European citizens. An Aussie without a work contract in the UK will not get one and will not gain access to the UK to live here I should imagine..

Not sure what the rules are on Aussies getting a work permit for European countries. Being a top international rider should help some Aussies like Ward and Holder get work permits for Poland and Sweden.

Whatever team Matt puts out next year, no matter what team building limits are in place, you can guarentee we will be at the pointy end come the end of the season.

yep you will be because any team with Ward and Holder should easily walk into the play offs.

However you had an awful starting 1-7 that you have still failed to acknowledge

Wards injury enabled you to strengthen so injuries have helped you this season.

And you can always be safe in the knowledge if you are struggling that you can always cheat like this year

I'm a Poole fan but i'm under no illusion when it comes to Matt Ford's tactics. It seems quite clear to me that Matt didn't believe the Pirates would make it through to the final and made this press statement purely to try and bolster ticket sales last Monday. I wouldn't pay much attention.
