Jacques
I nearly choked on my dinner just now when I opened today's Speedway Star and read Matt Ford's quotes: "If they choose to ban him on Friday or Saturday, they totally screw my team and my business. That needs to be taken into consideration. You're not just affecting the rider". "Anyone can guess what's going to happen to him, but no-one actually knows. Fingers crossed he gets away with it because obviously we need him desperately for the play-offs". I don't think Matt is grasping the bigger picture here - rules? right and wrong? morality? ethics? I love how we're getting the ' oh woe is me' comments from him now. Sympathy level, zero.... Edited August 28, 2014 by Jacques
semion
If only Ward had got pissed earlier in the season. At Middlo n Matt would have had the chance to wave the old cheque book again
SteveLyric2
Well with the new September averages now out, Poole have the pick of any EL rider to guest for their remaining EL away fixtures (except Doyle - Visa!) and even NKI possible for home meetings, if available!! Not sure what happens for the play-offs, after the 28 day facility?? r/r I guess. Edited August 28, 2014 by Skidder1
Tom Turner
On Poole’s next step, Middleditch added: “I think we’re looking at guests. The riders we wanted were not available, didn’t want to do it or were focused on the Grand Prix as their main goal." It's a shame that it's so hard to find a rider with all the brilliant talent in the world. Most are simply uninterested in England. I've heard many riders talk about how other riders encourage them not to waste their time with England. Hope we can find a replacement. I would be happy if KK fit's his average. Fingers crossed the season isn't over for us just yet.
Crazy robin
We'll said Middlo & as some have said Poole should've knew Darcy wasn't going to get away with this & done something when it first happened rather than let him carry on riding. Hope Darcy sorts himself out & finally grows up because he's had enough problems in the past.
Buttons
If I remember Ford said that this was Darcy's last chance the last time he was in trouble, he should have had the guts to do as he said he would and sack him, perhaps then Darcy would learn his lesson.
Steve0
I hope this is the wake-up call that will finally make Darcy grow up and learn from all his past indiscretions. He is a great talent but he needs to go away now, get his knee sorted, take his punishment and come back with a new focus and determination. He is a great talent but he isn't invincible!

Perhaps if the lesson was not to bother with British speedway... He's hardly desperate to ride here!
Gavan
At long last Middlo actually comes out with some credibility. I do think its funny Matt Ford moaning about his business being affected! He doesn't give two hoots about the sport in this country and pulls stroke after stroke to get his in way. Well this time tough s..t Ford you lose out. Nobody gives a stuff bout your business like you don't give a stuff bout our sport. But of karma at work love it
scottyfan
What I think about Darcy Ward since his failed breath test, I could not put on a public forum. He is a total disgrace and has dropped Poole and all his other teams right in the the poo poo. He has let his sponsors and fans down very very badly. If having a drink and getting drunk is the most important thing to him then give up riding speedway and just go out on the lash every night!!!! With Poole now having to use guests or r/r for the rest of the season, that's the 2014 season over for me......I ain't going to watch a team with no no 1 rider and guests galore, so.......Well Done Mr Ward!!!!!!!!
Crazy robin
Will be interesting to see how all Darcy's clubs react in they future to using him & whether his sponsors stick by him.
g13webb
Back at the start of the year, when all talks and discussions were about the FTR's I brought up the issue of relation of average compatibility, taking into account how it would be more difficult for the top riders to maintain their current score. The riders not participating would be on a higher score than those actually riding. SKIDDER went to great length to rubbish me and what I was saying, and insinuated I was imagining problems that didn't exist ... Strange how these things turn out. It now seem everything I said has come back to haunt POOLE. It now appears both Holder and Hancock cant cover for Ward now because Darcy's average has dropped, If at the start of the year calculations been in place to alleviate the differences , then probably the pre-mentioned two could have replaced him.... Star Lady
proof job sharing wont work . THE NUMBER ONES DONT WANT TO RIDE HERE ..... Oh yes they do but only when it suits them. In the run up to the GPs to get match fit and at the very end of the season if they have no hope of winning anything elsewhere and they think they can make easy money.

Crazy robin
Come on we all know the only reason Hancock rode here last season was because he'd been binned on Poland & no matter what is done the big boys don't want or need riding in England.
stevebrum
In answer to my own question... http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/sport/speedway/piratesnews/11439358.Speedway__Anguished_Middleditch_blasts_banned_Ward_for__wasting__talent___Poole_Pirates_struggle_to_plug_gap/ Let's see the usual suspects pick the latest middlo statement apart Shame he didn't apologise for the `its what kids do these days` line while he was at it. Bout time he made his feelings clear because he has been giving Darcy all the WRONG support and words up to now. Matt has had 11 days to think of a plan B in case this happened, to be honest this was always going to happen. Poor preparation and short sighted if you ask me. Absolutely. No point in pleading wrong doing by the FIM. Unlike the BSPA they don't bend to MF`s way. It was clear to anyone with a brain that Darcy would be facing some sort of ban that would put him out at least till the end of the season. MF should have had a back up plan for the obvious. Perhaps he isn't as tuned in as some Poole fans like us to believe. I thought Doyle couldn't guest due to his visa restrictions He hasnt done any guesting because that is what his Visa restricts, Cant `work` for anyone else in the UK. If I remember Ford said that this was Darcy's last chance the last time he was in trouble, he should have had the guts to do as he said he would and sack him, perhaps then Darcy would learn his lesson. He has given him umpteen chances and still throws it back in his face. Ward has had his way and no control for too long. I agree MF should have sacked him for his close season episodes in Oz last year. I hope this is the wake-up call that will finally make Darcy grow up and learn from all his past indiscretions. He is a great talent but he needs to go away now, get his knee sorted, take his punishment and come back with a new focus and determination. He is a great talent but he isn't invincible! Couldn't agree more. If this isn't the wake up call he needs then he will never reach the pinnacle. I do hope he can turn things around and come back with a stronger brain and head and achieve what many assume is his right to be crown World Champion. Not till the attitude changes he never will. Good luck Darcy in turning things around.
From PC to KC.
Th only thing I'll say, is that they must have had some idea he would get some sort of a ban or suspension. I don't buy that they've had no time to tap up an adequate replacement , they've had 11 days! I did wonder if KK might say no, he's got a chance to be WC, same with Hancock. Not even Matt's money can tempt them then. I'm sure he'll cook something up though! They could always give Paul Gascoigne a call.

Who are we actuslly tslking sbout here?Hancock and holder don't fit. Last year everyone said kk is not a true number 1. Nicki has a dislocated collarbone. Who are the other number 1s we think this shows dont want to race here?
