CB252
Just chuckling at the irony of Pirates fans griping over an incident involving a rider that their promotor dedicated a whole winter to trying to prevent riding in Britain in 2010/11. Also remember the whole Poole grandstand out of their seats cheering when PP crashed into the 4th bend fence in the World U21 Final in 2011. Ahh, great days.... stevebrum
Hopwood signs as smarts replacement. This can be put to bed now Thank the lord for that. At least all teams have DECLARED riders in the 1-7 berths. Nothing to moan about now! It was a non story anyway. Wrong, teams are meant to declare their 1-7 so hence why it was being discussed and therefore a story.
A ORLOV
Certain Poole fans told us that Benji had been signed before May 1st when he was below Lee on the draft list, although this was not shown on the team line ups. Benji is now above both Lee and Ben so is not an option unless he is signed but not shown and Ben is a guest replacement due to the injury to Benji. TMW
What's the point in signing someone for a month?
LagutaRacingFan
Would be a huge blow for the Pirates if Ward is out. A re-shuffle of the side may be a better option, Would Madsen,Pepe and THJ fit for Ward,Milk and Josh G.

They are doing a fine job and stand only to get better.
Vincent Blachshadow
I didn't say they should but it was you who mentioned Troy & I simply replied with how many riders Swindon still have out on loan which you failed to mention. The days of buying riders has gone now. Why don't you go back to post #3200, have a read of the whole post, not just what I posted, and start again. Steve0
Then why should Poole, should they wish to use him, have to buy Miedzinski this time as Steve0 posts? It was a joke - hence the emoticon! I don't care if he rides in this country again or not!

If they did sign Benji before May 1st strange how their 1-7 has not been changed to show that. Also, it means Smart was ineligible to ride instead of him on 30th April against the Brummies as he was (at that time) above Benji in the draft list. SteveLyric2
Hopefully for the last time, Poole submitted a new 1-7 on 25th April including Compton in place of Smart, who was told he was being dropped. Compton got injured initially that same day, so Poole withdrew that 1-7 and reverted to the original team including Smart. Smart was unavailable for the BV meeting on Monday 28th, but resumed his place on Wednesday 30th April. Smart then announced his retirement from speedway affecting both Poole and Devon Demons (the latter having to replace Smart with Greenwood at the weekend and Poole having to use a guest, Luke Crang, on Monday at Wolves). Simples. No rules broken, All is well with the world! Edited May 9, 2014 by Skidder1

Yet again comments that prove you know nothing about the current line up...............We don't need to change Milik and Josh G has a better average than those that you mention.............. May be if you actually went to a meeting at Poole instead of posting idiotic comments people might take notice of what you say............not that that is likely............. pointsmeanplayoffs
Agree that the asset system is pointless now. Whilst this time last season I would have agreed with you, the FTD now makes it more appealing to 'own' young riders as you are ensured first dibs on them come draft time. This is where King's Lynn benefited from having Kerr and Rose, and where teams like Poole have suffered. There may be some life in the old outdated asset system yet, but with teams investing in young talent rather than older riders.

What a stupid suggestion all round.
Tom Turner
I think Matt would say sorry Josh you are over achieving by scoring double figures in 3 meetings this season but it is not good enough . "We've bought in THJ to replace Ward, as they are basically on par"

I might not like MF - but he's thought things through by linking with (IMHO) the best training club in the country. Welcome Ben Hopwood to the pirate ship and hope you have a terrific season, lets face it he has nothing to lose. Like Smart he's been riding in the lowest league for far too long and never progressed...
Tom Turner
Speedway must be stressful because he hasn't aged very well. Ben Hopwood - Aged 23 ***Yet another overlarge image removed - as before, use links***

I notice there's a subsection entitled 'contracts' in the 2014 rules on the SCB website which goes into rider transfers so I think the asset system is far from dead. Poole have struggled with their second position but have Kyle Newman as an asset which has stood them in good stead. Might we go back to the days of the late 70's where promtions crossed over the leagues Hull/Newcastle Cradley/Oxford etc?
