Compton has agreed to sign for Poole but has a broken scaphoid. MF will wait until he's recovered and in the meantime use guests from the appropriate place in the Draft list. (all in the local Echo online) I'm sure it will all be announced on Poole's new website, launched today!! :t:

Ben Hopwood guests v BV on Wednesday.

Compton hasn't replaced Smart. Smart is still in the declared 1-7.

They may have thought about replacing Smart with Compton, and even gone as far as telling Smart he was being sacked...but with Compton getting injured they never made the change.

Now they're just cheating and using horses for courses guests instead of using Smart - presumably under the pretence that Smart is withholding his services - even though we know he's not, and indeed Smart has ridden one meeting since.

Smart's retired from speedway - ask Devon Demons!!! So as he's still in the 'official' Poole 1-7 (as they stopped short of redeclaring due to Compton's injury) they will use a guest until Compton is fit to be declared!

Its not rocket science!!

Compton is above Smart in the draft list, so he can't be Smart's replacement. try again.

Dont start quoting facts mate, you know the rules

I do, but pointing that out, in the interests of accuracy, doesn't mask the fact that the Poole promotion are playing to their strengths in cheating, amply aided by the BSPA MC's new unwritten phantom R/R rules.

He published25th April when the proposed change was first submitted to BSPA!!

But smart has ridden for the pirates since then, without being declared as a guest? And would havecbeen higher ranked thsn compton.

Or was the change to have become effective only at 11.59 pm on 30 april?

But why then has there been no redeclared team published? surely you can't change your team bssed on svrrsges at a certain date but ask for it to become effective at some future date, at which point a new set of averages are valid making the change in breach of the team building rules?

The proposed change that never went through?

Smart was still in the 1-7 and riding for Poole on 30 April.

He's still in the 1-7 today, and the referees paperwork for tomorrow night states that Hopwood is "guesting" in place of Smart.

Spot on, which all means that any subsequent introduction of Benji Compton is quite simply illegal.

In addition, the BSPA should contact Lee Smart to check if he was/is available to ride. If he confirms he is, any points scored by the Poole 'guest' should be deducted.

This is mentioned on Sky Sports website (won't let me copy and paste). States Poole 'axe' Smart. Also says:-

'Pirates are able to name a rider below Smart in the British Speedway Promoters' Association's fast track draft grade list, provided that rider is eligible for a full-time position'.

Ford goes on to say:-

"We're going to make a change and it may be that we try something for another month or so until we find what's best for the club in that position," Ford told the Daily Echo.

That's what he's doing - trying something for another month, naming a rider below Smart, just a different one each match.

Whether it's within the rules or not is another matter.

Does Smart know he has retired ? Seems he is the first victim of the new draft. Elite League has flocked him over. Sad say I'm sure there will others as the season progresses. Can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs.

I wonder is Matty hoping that some young super star is going to come to the fore and he can gobble him up ?
