Daniel Smith
I'm not sure the GoFundMe thing is a bad idea to get sponsorship be it a GP rider or a beginner. They all need money. The issue for me is setting a target figure. £10,000 is a pretty large sum of money and does smack of greed rather than need

mdmc82
Personally dont see why such a big deal is being made of it. Lots of riders have started using go fund me. Either give or dont
Pantherman
Don't see the problem personally. If you want to contribute then do so, if you don't then, well, don't. At the end of the day its a useful way to communicate with those that do. Got to agree, can't see the problem myself

Lioness
I find it quite interesting that a rider is getting slated for it this year when last year a PL rider easily as well off financially, if not better so, got praised for doing it last season! Each to their own, its not the sort of thing I would give to but you can't blame the riders for trying it

Alan_Jones
Last year a rider set a similar £10,000 goal on GoFundMe and raised £655. His name was Tai Woffinden...

Steve0
I thought Tai did it last winter but wasnt 100% sure, I dont think he got anywhere near as much stick! Probably because he isn't in the Coventry team
ColinMills
a 30 yr old who never shown half tai"s ability, a average in watered down elite, that wouldn't of even managed to be a ht leader in the past......sell your posh car, get a loan, get a sponsor, work during the winter, dontbgo holding out your hand!!

So you don't like Bomber (in terms of his ability) or the fact that he is asking for sponsorship - that's fine. However, he is asking for sponsorship and that is his perogative - either contribute or don't but I'm sure there will be others who do contribute. I really don't see what the problem is.
ColinMills
I don't have an opinion on him personally, I certainly have an opinion on his capabilities (which im entitled to have).. anybody is welcome to give anyone any amount of money, its there freedom of choice, to me, it looks like begging, whats to stop him earning in 5 months work? whats stoping him selling stuff?etc?....the perception doesn't look good to me, and if I (which im not) was going to invest in a rider, it would be someone with a winning potential
SPEEDY69
What do contributors get in return? For a minimum donation - Free entry to every GP he's in??! Good point. Most sponsorship comes with somethign in return. He could set up a fan club maybe and give out birthday cards as other used to do - or what about have a hat placed outside his van at meetings for people to drop money into? A decent porfoliio with wel lworked out deals for potential sponsors would be more successful than this and I think this belittles him.

Woz01
Good move. So why wasn't that used to begin with? No idea but its a good move. An early season meeting against the Brummies should ensure a good crowd Edited February 4, 2014 by woz01
