Steve0
I don't see anything wrong with this. How many times at a club are you asked to contribute to a certain rider to help them with fuel/tyres etc. the only difference here is that it is to fund his individual ambitions. People on here harp on about backing the Brits and here's an excellent opportunity for them to do just that. I wish Bomber well in the SGPs and hope he gets some funds through this medium. However, I won't be one of those part funding his personal ambitions.

fliss44
I agree about backing the Brits and am indeed sponsoring 2 Brits this year (albeit modestly)but I have no wish to hand over my hard earned cash to Bomber -- concentrate on the youngsters as far as I am concerned -- money well spent in the future of British speedway. SCB
Bomber probably makes more in a year that 99% of people stood on the terracing watching him every week. It's a bloody cheek.

BluPanther
How can anyone outside of speedway take the sport seriously when a GP rider, riding in front of large televised crowds, is seen begging for money so he can compete. It leaves a bad taste in the mouth...

IF, I was to contribute anything to a rider again, it would be one of the young Storm riders. Bomber probably makes more in a year that 99% of people stood on the terracing watching him every week. It's a bloody cheek. I know I left the area last year, but the last time I saw Bomber he was driving around in a Range Rover with a personal plate. He may have got it because of his GF but it's the perception at the end of the day and that image makes this page sit badly. I've only ever seen this sort of stuff used by someone who is doing a selfless act for charity ... Crazy robin
What a joke so a bloke who earns how much a year & drives around in a flash motor wants Joe Public to help him out. I have lots of things I want to do but can't afford to do it so give them a miss & if Bomber is the same then that's what he should do. Needless to say he won't be getting a penny from me.
ColinMills
what even makes him think we should back him? hes never put a real challenge in for the title, had numerous wildcards, even this year creeped in through the back door, age is against him, and in a weaker league, got a naff average! <text speak altered>
Bagpuss
Don't see the problem personally. If you want to contribute then do so, if you don't then, well, don't. At the end of the day its a useful way to communicate with those that do.

Gemini
Well, someone must be responding because the fund is now on £120. 00p. Come on folks dig deep. Afraid I won't be sending any because I only send money to rescue centres for abused dogs that really need help.

Not really the same though is it? You don't ask for sponsorship to pay your mortgage whereas all speedway riders ask for sponsorship every year to help them be competitive. This is just a different way of doing it and rather than a company paying a large lump sum it works by lots of people contributing small amounts.

If he cant afford to be a SGP rider, he should withdraw. It's little more than begging imo..
ColinMills
I know its not the same, its just harris has been in the game a while now, the gp"s "appear" to be quite professional, where riders have big teams and sponsors around, these are riders that are paid far better than other riders, and earn all around the world.. giving harris plenty of cash "may" help him scrape in 8th, but does anybody see him reaching the summit? hes had loads of opportunities, and I don't believe its money that's stopped him competing.. I once gave emmerson fairweather £10 at peterboro (not much) but he was jeered by his own fans, he got 3pts, but imo, those 3pts were just as important as anybody else"s..i also have sponsored another rider, and the minute I stopped, I never even got a thank you. but if anybody wants to hand harris cash, do so, its your money, your choice, but it just looks tacky to me all this
Woz01
I dont see an issue with it, fans sponsor riders all the time and this is just an easier way of doing it.
