Illegal approaches is the only way they think they have a chance but in truth they are miles behind Poole in every department.

Every team is miles behind Poole when it comes to illegal approaches but thanks at least for confirming you agree on something the rest of us have told you for years now.

Nothing to worry about. We all know the only way Coventry can get close to Poole is to tap up their riders and offer double the points money.

Let's be honest. Looking at the Coventry top five there are two words that come to mind. Also dans. As usual.

Let them have their five minutes as that's about all they will get. If it had been Poole who had made an approach like this it would run to fifty pages. As it's not it's all Ok then.

Howarth has made a huge blunder by chasing the money over how he would do in the long term. Good luck to him though as he looks up to see Pirates at the top as usual.

Off for a beer at Epcot. Cheers!

He isnt your rider to tap up. Also I doubt he will be on more than what Poole offered, he probably wanted to be at a club that appreciate their riders and treat them well. I think someone is worried, roll on 2014!

A huge blunder you say...

I am thinking that when you leave one employment for another you don't generally leave for less money. If Horton has paid him more to ride at Coventry than at Poole then good luck to the lad I say. He was mustard for Swindon last season and would have liked to see him back.

Of course, the other huge mistake he has made is to knock several hours off his travelling.

What is the boy thinking.... :P

The majority of us don't have to post about going to the pub Steve, I would guess that for most on here it is just a normal social occasion.. :t:

Anyway you have a good time now - enjoy yourself and perhaps you will feel a tad more relaxed next time you post..

BTW...by the time you read this, hopefully you will have got things in perspective a little and will realise that your above post about Coventry and Kyle Howarth makes you look like MR SOUR GRAPES UK 2013 (copyright Starman, of course)

Have to say that Coventry have done well early on with Andersen and Bomber and Kenneth Hansen obviously goes well at Brandon. Then you have Ryan Fisher who battles for every point and with first pick in the draft, they are looking good with 5.30 left for the last signing.

No disrespect to Kyle Howarth, but I'm suprised they have signed a 4.28 rider when they could have signed someone like Daniel Nermark 5.27, Simon Gustafsson 5.17 or even Bees asset, Josh Auty 4.90. I'm sure Kyle will be a decent signing but leaving over a point to use is weird as they could have even used Rory Schlein instead of Kenneth Hansen.

Still a decent line up but it looks like there will be quite a few powerful teams around and actually think Kings Lynn could be the main contenders if they have Iversen, Mads, Rory, Porsing and a 5+ rider with Lewis Kerr at reserve.

every team is miles behind Poole when it comes to ambition! (and no I am not a Poole fan but Christ I wish more promoters had the type of fire and determination the Poole guys have) if more promotions set their stall out aka Poole, British speedway would be head and shoulders above anything offered by Poland!

That is living in a world of fantasy im afraid. The poles have great stadia, great tracks and big crowds. We have pokey run down dog track stadiums with poor attendances in comparison. Poles apart.. :D

Wow TNT, where to start with that post.

Not for the first time you make enormous assumptions about whose assets riders are, where they are happy and ignore which night their PL side races on. And in the cases of Nermark & Auty I'm not sure they would be a better option than Howarth anyway.

I'd probably have Howarth in the side above all those riders and looking at it I think the promotion has built the side to be rock solid at home but also pick points up with the odd away win. Knowing we will get first pick in draft makes Howarth less of a gamble as I'm sure Garrity (if we pick him) will beat a few 2nd strings throughout the season. Edited by woz01

I agree with you...totally...what I am saying is..if promotions understood that putting on a show involved a vision that by providing great stadium, competative teams rather than the rubbish stadiums we have and one sided meetings then our sport would stand a chance of growing. I saw speedway in Poland during the 70's & early 80's and take it from me other than the stadiums where they held World finals (not as good as Wembley) the local tracks were nothing to write home about & indeed, back then UK stadium were ahead of the Polish variety.

What we must understand that unlike (say) a car dealership who does not want competition Speedway teams need just that so that the show appeals to the paying public. Hence my comment that if more promotions followed the Poole way then more teams would have ambition to win (rather than survive) and as such ove time the overall product would greatly improve.

I am not living in a world of fantassy, I am remebering what it was like in the past and recognising where the sport went wrong and what it needs to do to begin the journey of recovery, Can we get to the level of the Poles...Not if we dont try...remember, if you keep doing what you have always done then you will always get what you have always got!

The thing is that anyone who tries to compete or follow the poole way as you put it get shafted.

Then they need to fight harder, smarter, dirtier or even help Poole understand that without top quality competition Poole speedway will only be taking part in third rate (in comparison to Poland etc) speedway....Big fish in big pool better than big fish in littel pool.

Incredible really. MF and some of his cohorts have been telling us on the forum to stop bleating and promote their clubs as he does, spend money to get the best riders in and when another team/promotion does just that it is criticised.

The Coventry promotion have done a great job close season - promoting the the club through a a stand at the motorcycle show, signing some good riders which look to have talent and a good balance to the side.

I would have though Poole Speedway would have welcomed a strong challenge. Let's hope Coventry are not the only ones for 2014, it might just bring back the fans.
