Coventry Bees 2014

Hi my mate woz. As one of the people you brand as a hater I would like to say that I think Harris back is great from Horton even though it was a no brainer. We will get some great entertainment next year. Hansen is a move I don't have a problem with, though remains to be seen what else is forthcoming ie no Nicholls bad move because I'm sure he and Harris don't get on. Summers had enough chances. Some more new faces please. Do you approve or are you still going to slate me and others because we do not like your mate Horton.

I actually agree with pretty much all of that.

Time for Havvy to go Phil Morris would be a great replacement if he could be tempted to leave Birmingham

No chance unless you put out some serious wonga, the way things are going it appears Graham Drury is on borrowed time at Perry Barr and I think his contract is up next year anyway, it's not coincidence we've improved since Morris came to the fore.

Very happy to see Harris back and Hansen seems to be a good signing too. Wondering how much planning and signing can be done before the make up of the top tier is known. The overall composition and motivation will be all important and let's hope that a new manager with the motivational skills of a Phil Morris is high on Horton's list.

I would have thought it would be sorted after we know the league structure and sky's intensions because if sky's money is missing then riders contracts for next season will change surely. It is crazy to think in such a poor league really that Harris is sitting on a 6ish point average.

Thought his contract was up at the end of this season, would be surprised if he isn't already gone.

Good to see Bomber back and enjoyed watching Hansen at the Brandonapolis. It was wierd seeing Bomber as Brummie this year.

Do people really believe the points total for 2014 will be as low as 36 as stated on this thread? It will be a pity if this means some top riders not being in the UK next year.

IMO will never ever be that low, as a 36.00 average means your 7 riders on average will be on a 5.14 average between them, that's just beyond ridiculous!

Whatever happened to the 50 point limit of the 1980s ? We had all the worlds top riders ride here can't help but think this continue lowering of the points limit has been the one main reason speedway has declined in the UK .

It could be that low but when you take into account there COULD be 12 Elite League tracks, some top riders missing through choice and possibly NO SKY deal then you have to be thankful its as high as 36

It's still here.

Well not really but in a way it is. Remember back in the 80's riders still had BP's added to their averages and if you added the bonus points to Birmingham or Swindon this season then they would be around 50 combined ..... so in a way it's still here and always will be.

A drop in the points limit only means there won't be as many big names (big paid riders) here. There will still be 90 points up for grabs in each meeting but it just means Heat 15's will be more like Woffinden/Proctor v Ward/Watt instead of including Lindgren and Holder.

It's better to see a weaker but still entertaining form of the sport than no sport at all if tracks carry on spending like they are.

Where's the crowds of 3000 per meeting coming from to fund those riders then ?, I'd rather have all the top riders given the choice, but that's just it, we don't have a choice, we have to go with what can be afforded (by all, not just Matt Ford).
