EASTBOURNE'S visit to Brandon on Friday September 12 will now become a double-header, with both Elite League A and B fixtures raced on the same evening.

Consequently the start-time of this meeting has been brought forward to 7pm, and admission details will be available in due course.

(even if Harris misses the GP practice, will he bad able to do both meetings) Howarth and Barker also missing

I'm told MJJ would have ridden in this meeting and caught the flight on Saturday morning.

Good move, always best to have a rider who actually wants to ride for you.

MJJ has great potential but too many commitments elsewhere and the bees are bottom of his priorities .

Ben 100% racer who will liven things up for sure ,5 Brits in the side now quality,

Bomber should make it easy enough, not sure if Barker is available to us but he is our asset.

Would rather have an uncommitted 6.5 "mercenary" than a 5 point give it his all rider who rubbish on us a few years ago to piss off to Birmingham. At least there was a chance MJJ would step it up for the play-offs. No chance of that with Barker.

And how the hell is MJJ a "mercenary" but the little rubbish who dumped us and ironically chased the money to Birmingham is not?

All those on here having a pop at Jepsen Jensen, take a detached view and look at the situation from his perspective and tell me then that you would not have made the same decision he did.

I have total understanding that MJJ's first priority is with his Swedish club. He joined them before he joined us this season, and, in fact, he has ridden for Dackarna for years as opposed to the few months he has ridden for us. In making this decision he is probably also thinking about next year and making sure he maximises his chance of getting another contract for Dackarna which, to be honest, for a rider like MJJ is probably more important to him than getting a contract sorted with Coventry or any other EL club next season.

We have to accept when we sign riders like MJJ half way through a season that their Swedish and Polish fixtures are going to be a priority for them. Whether this means that riders like MJJ should be signed at all is another debate for another day.

You can call him a mercenary if you like but, the fact is, he's had to make a simple business decision. He was going to upset someone whatever decision he made. The question is, does he upset the British club he joined mid-season and probably will not be riding for next season anyway, or does he upset his longstanding Swedish employers? Like it or not, Bees fans, it's a no-brainer.

Earlier this week, the Coventry promotion made a 'Business Decision' to move the home Kings Lynn fixture forward 24 hours. As is the case with MJJ's decision to miss the Belle Vue fixture, the repercussions of this are that the Bees team riding against Kings Lynn will be weakened as Garrity, Howarth and Hansen (will we get a facility for him?) are unavailable. This was to accommodate a football match! I have more understanding for a weakened Bees team riding at Belle Vue due to a rider riding in a Swedish playoff fixture than I do for a weakened Bees team riding on Thursday because there is a football match going on elsewhere.

Excellent post G the Bees and ams up exactly how i am feeling

I have some great photos of my granddaughter with Havvy and with 6 of the winning team at Lakeside last Saturday. Any guesses who was the rider she didn't get a photo with?

I have never been Ben Barker's biggest fan but wasn't he in the Bees team that won the title in 2010?

yes and some of us remembers Barkers attitude and his lack of interest in fans or team spirit

Mjj will miss more than the Belle Vue meeting now he is in the GP's and god knows about the other commitments he may have he may miss even more.

I personally think barker will make the effort to mix with the fans as he really in the last chance saloon to become a fans favourite. Time catches up with everyone and before he knows it all his bridges will be burnt. The man gives 110% no question and I have a feeling he might do a decent job to impress to get a job for next year. He really should have stepped up to the elite full time and took a gamble as the bloke has talent on a bike

I'm sure all will be forgiven with Barker if he rattles in double figures!

I agree with that. The pressure is on Barker now big time. He needs to deliver.

As far as I'm concerned, after what happened at the start of last season with the Brummies, I would not have been bothered if Ben never rode for Coventry again. However, what's done is done. I don't agree with the decision but it's happened.

Should we get to the playoffs, Barker's performances will be under the spotlight big time. If he performs all will be forgiven. If he does not, then this decision made by the Bees promotion will give us all something to debate on here during the close season.

Such is the nature of sport.

I have to admit, my first thought was, isn't this the Ben Barker that lied and pissed off to Birmingham, no can't be? The sneaky double die b.....d? The rider I hoped would never darken our door again. Personally I can't stand the little cretin, but I was totally underwhelmed at the signing of MJJ and he's hardly set the world on fire. What did Mick Horton say at the time, he didn't want to ride over here.....

I feel the same about signing Barker, underwhelmed and I wouldn't have had him back, ever!!

I accept he'll probably give 100% on a bike blah blah. But Barker FFS? Is that the best we could do?

But, it's the team I care about at the end of the day, so I hope he bangs in some good scores, I don't have to like him though :P
