Coventry Bees 2014

Grrrr!! Chris Harris is so frustrating. It's usually about June when he finally sorts his machines out. Hopefully now he's back with the Bees it will be a bit sooner.

How many seasons on the trot is he STILL having trouble sorting his machinery out? So puzzling for a professional rider.

Why not?

He's due one.

I like him, and would like him to do well.

I'm the eternal optimist, and..

Does it matter?

Just wondering what you were basing your hunch on. I too like Harris, one of the most entertaining riders I have seen in years. Never gives up, uses all lines to pass and is as tough as teak. Would have loved to see him race every week at Blunsdon, but I guess that won't ever happen now. I just can't see him improving that much from now on.

I expect some useful performances in the Gp, but can't see him averaging 8 points per meeting in the EL.

its all about mental attitude, harris has proved in the past that he can compete at GP level, the year he qualified in his own right! and was on podium form.

not sure what gets to him but clearly things do. you see him struggle to pass poor riders, almost throwing the bike at the track to get past, loses momentum and tails off.

this is a rider who is affected by pressure, i think it can be resolved with the right support.

not sure what was going on with his last stint at the bees, external issues were obviously getting to him, it was sad to see him struggle.

Hopefully we can see the real bomber this year, its great to watch.

whatever the recent form he should never forget he is a bees legend and always will be!

No.

I have been told that there is a new curactor; the previous one has left two weeks ago.

The new curator is Polish, and that he does not speak, or speaks very little English, and that communicating to him tonight was a very significant concern in achieving an efficient and effective grading of the track.

Is was cringeworthy wasn't it?

I notice that Coventry have a new joint track curator
Anyone know anything about this change just before the new season and who the new guy is?

Certainly some negative signs tonight! Not sure which are Mick Hortons or Sandhus responsibilities?

Presentation...poor (who on earth was the new announcer?)

Customer liaison...poor (no mention/explanation about re-admission, or what was going on in the long wait for the tractor)

Track work...shambolic (yes it was wet but not a clue what to do about it. Who was in charge?)

Stadium...needs attention (lots of bulbs missing from track lights, still got last years team names and pictures in the pits)

Riders..... had no chance on that track

If that was your first speedway meeting, you would never bother again!

A lot of things to put right before Sunday and the rest of the season.

The announcer at the shambles tonight which masqueraded as a speedway meeting sounded like he had won a competition to be announcer for the night!

With respect to the guy, who I'm sure was doing his best, it sounded totally amateurish, to the point of being cringe worthy and embarassing. Rumors are that he filled in at the last minute, but why on earth was Peter York not doing both jobs tonight?

When an EL club with the proud tradition of a club like Coventry stages NL racing, they should set the standard others should aspire to. They fell well short tonight. In so many ways...

I've potentially got a group of friends from work coming up with me for the EL meeting against Birmingham. After what I witnessed tonight, on so many levels, I'm going to put them off.

The announcer was standing in for somebody so hopefully won't hear him again.

They have had all winter to change the names in the pits, not very good

In positive news Harris had a good night at Poole

More bees riders in action tonight

Jk testimonial : Harris & Hans

Morton Risagers : Hansen

Leicester v Peterborough CH : Fisher

U21 Semi: Sarjeant

Wish them all good safe meetings

The announcer is listed on the website, it seems he is permanent. I wasnt there last night but not one positive comment about him on here or social media. Good luck to all the boys tonight! Edited by woz01

I would thoroughly recommend that anyone should read and contribute to the thread on the National League forum; of particular interest, I would recommend and urge you to contribute to the theme the debacle is (at least) partly due to the fans. Great stuff. Totally rational I am sure you will agree.

Would have thought anyone would have been better than the usual shambolic York.

Actually the announcer was that bad he made Peter York look brilliant and it was a refreshing change to hear him talk sense. Now there's two words you don't often see in the same sentence - Peter York and sense.

Track has had a lot of work done to it this year. Would have thought this would include drainage overhaul. Weather cannot be helped, but track staff have not got a clue what to do except for putting down a couple of bags of sawdust. Surely with the time available some effort could have been made to get rid of some of the surface water. Track curator, must have had to come from Poland the length of time it took him to arrive on the track, after grading was announced, then he did not seem to have a clue. FTM please come back. Staff probably did not want to touch surface in view of Sundays meeting, which if on hope is over before midnight. Presentation even worse than usual, but then Mick Horton has Peterborough now Coventry Bees are closing, before the end of the season on last nights showing. A good crowd for a National League match, how may will come back for the Elite. Promoters could not care less about the fans and it is not just at Coventry
