I also hope Lee Payne is a success. :t:

according to the Aces website Payne is 27 years old not sure if the draft was set up for 27 year olds or am I being ageist ?

John (Tiger) Louis was 29 when he started riding for Ipswich in 1970. World team cup winner 1972 & 1973. World Best Pairs winner 1976. Does age matter that much if you have some ability.

In Regards To The Re-staging Of All Outstanding Matches.

Belle Vue have sent out messages to all clubs concerned regarding potential re-staging dates for our four outstanding rain-off fixtures, and we are now waiting for them to come back to us.

Since last week's double header was called off, the management team have been mapping out the possibility of how to complete our remaining fixtures; and providing the weather is favourable they're confident they will be completed in September.

Where possible, we will try to prioritise those clubs who are in with a chance of qualifying for the play offs.

Having assessed the time frame within which we have to work, which will include Wednesdays and possibly double headers, we are working hard to ensure that all of our outstanding matches will be honoured.

We've asked the clubs to come back to us on the dates that have been offered to them, and once we receive confirmation from them we will be able to finalise these dates with the BSPA.

So BV want a double header on the Monday. Coventry have to go there twice. I see the ideal solution here. FFS it's not hard.

I doubt they want double headers and that isn't what the press release says, it says and "possibly" double headers.

I can understand why Coventry fans would want to have two matches on Monday and it might happen but from Belle Vue's point of view it is less commercially attractive than racing two different teams. Fewer fans will want to shell out £25 for two matches against the same team. If I was a fan of one of the other teams waiting for a rearranged date I would want to get it in as soon as possible particularly as the forecast for Monday is ok at the moment. They might also think that Coventry would have an advantage over them because they would have their set ups sorted for the second match. Another major factor will be rider availability. What if one of the other teams could ride next Monday but not on other dates offered, if it is going to be a double header why shouldn't they get that chance. Life is never so simple once you start to consider all the implications.

I'm sure the Belle Vue promotion won't take into account the complete lack of assistance they got when asking for months for Coventry to change the date of our fixture at Brandon. 😀

I would have thought a large number of Bees fans would come up for 2 meeting for £25 as theres a good chance of 3-6 points on offer. Where as if you expect them to pay £25 to always watch Eastbourne and then come back up 2 days later (the only Mon or Wed Coventry have free) for another meeting then you're bloody mad!

Commercially it makes sense to have a play-off chasing team with good support for a double header rather than twice in a week on different days - or after the cut off date.

Now bees have no facility for MJJ, you would think Belle Vue would be more up for it.

With bees having so many fixtures still to complete, fans may pick & choice which to attend

With cut off date being 22nd Sep, would either team have any fixture clashes for riders if it was then (bees only other free Monday)

Coventry have brought very little support over recent years but I accept that the proximity of the play offs may increase numbers but I doubt it would anything like compensate for the fewer number of home fans. As I said you also have to be fair to the other clubs and take account of their preferences.

None of us know what dates have been offered and whether those dates suit the clubs involved. We shall have to wait and see. I just hope all those potentially involved in the play offs can be accommodated before the deadline.

.

Did you read the bit on website where Belle Vue said they had asked but other clubs don't want to be part of a double header on Mon 1st?

That was their preference

Apologies, no I didn't see that. I still think though that a double header against the same team is unlikely to attract sufficient fans prepared to pay £25. Why should Belle Vue take the financial risk particularly for a club who was not prepared to help them earlier in the season?
