orion
For what it is worth I also feel that both rules are unfair but the current one is more so. When I challenged a certain someone about this he was of the opinion that double points were introduced to keep the racing interesting. Racing can still be interesting if the match score is one-sided but at least it is genuine and not false. The old rule was not fair on the lesser riders who were constantly replaced. It might work better now if heats 2,8 & 14 were exempt. Why is it more so now ?
barrow boy
Why is it more so now ? Because now you can get double points.
orion
Because now you can get double points. And ? under the old rule you could score more overall and be less points behind and also put riders in when you wanted ...there is no logic that makes the old rule fairer . skthecat
Ok, I need this point clarifying and pretty quick.. So, a team has to have at least 1 British rider at reserve..... First green sheets come out and the aforememtioned Brit has rode himself into the main body of the team, and theres not another Brit in the team that can move down to reserve??????? What happens next???? Cheers Never to Old This has been pushed by fans you know? Having a Brit at reserve.......... compulsory rule change.. So what happens when the british reserve rides himself into the team, and he's the ONLY british rider in that team???? I say again. ... what happens then with the "Having a British rider at reserve" rule request???? Cheers Never to Old

Cheers Never to Old when they had this rule in 86, it had to be a "home grown junior", but if they rose to top 5 based on average they would move out of the reserve berth. However, I believe the Polish model of more recent years hass the rider staying at reserve for the duration. Short answer - i don't know, it could go either way, and the rule may be open to interpretation, or allowed to be ignored "in the interests of speedway", depedning on which team is riding anyway. skthecat
Hmmmm, sounds like the compulsory Brit at reserve rule could get really abused and manipulated..... difficult unless the ruling is on a purely age basis... and not time in the sport. embique
What about having an average limit stating that the British rider stays at reserve until his average is over a certain value and providing his average is in the top 5. Another rule like this wouldn't make it whole lot more complicated than it already is. I was just trying to think of a rule that would benefit British riders as there are PL teams that don't have British riders in their lineups and there are a few NL riders that could line up at reserve for them.
