Just as all the talk of changes seems to die down theres a post on the Boro thread stating that Dilger chose the Panthers over an offer from the Witches!

No thanks - lucky escape IMO.

Was eagerly awaiting the latest greensheet averages to be issued to see if Morten was going to replace Richie W at no1 given their respective scores recently only to realize issue 30 on 21-8-14 is identical as july's .

Any idea how this can be ? Or has someone just published this before actually getting a calculator out ! If so what's the point ?

Sorry , stupid question really when talking about those that control our sport !

I would imagine morten has easily overtaken Worrall, especially with his score of zero at Rye. Morten deserves to be number 1 this season. Although having morten at 1 is not really going to help at certain tracks, like the one coming up on Thursday.

On a different issue, is it right that kids are getting in for nothing, even if not accompanied by an adult? If so why isn't it packed out? If speedway is to continue in this country, it's the youngsters that need to be interested, and pretty clearly they are not.

You have hit the nail on the head there, unfortunately...

Do many kids even know that speedway exists? And if they do, what is stopping them going even when it's free? Or are people going to say that their parents wouldn't drop them off, or they don't have push bikes or there are no busses or they couldn't share a taxi? No doubt someone will come up with an excuse why not.

The internet and gaming seems to be their 'thing' these days, and the digital age has affected many outdoor sports and pastimes. Times change, but not always for the better imo...

My boy who is now 7 (happy birthday Kaidan) comes along every week now and does enjoy it. A class mate was there last week and when asked if he enjoyed it said it was boring as too much time between races and nothing happens. Ended up playing on his dad's phone and then not bothering with the races! Says it all really. ...

Problem is that 15 mins of actual racing in 2 to 3 hours depending on stoppages is going to be boring to the youth of today when they are used to filling in every minute on PlayStations or Xbox's!

I just cannot ever see youngsters really getting into Speedway these days.

My boys are 9 & 11 and whilst they both spend hours on their boxes it is the eldest that is the 'addicted' one.

When it comes to Speedway however the youngest can take it or leave it and isnt that bothered even when its free yet the eldest now comes every week and is really 'getting into it'

I dont think any activities are mutually exclusive.

I just don't think it's exciting enough for most of the youth of today. You go to red bull x fighters and events like that, and it's packed with kids, because it's classed as extreme. Speedway is classed along the same lines as train spotters and aircraft spotters according to my 2 nephews I just asked, and I do agree with them in a way, it does look nerdy with people sitting there filling in their programmes and drinking out of their flasks. And young lads go where the good looking girls go. Are there any good looking girls or ladies at speedway? Certainly not where I sit.

In my local tennis leagues the average age of the players is around 50. I would not think there would be more than 20 youngsters in 20 teams

In a report in this weeks papers it says that the number of people playing golf has fallen in the last three years with the biggest drop in the under 21's

There are even fewer teams in the local football leagues. At national level except for the Premier League the attendances are dropping alarmingly/

At most County Cricket matches the crowds are lower than Speedway.
