spanner47
I wonder if Mr Louis will turn up on Sky Sports tonight as a pundit at the pairs after conveniently sacking himself as 'team manager' a couple of weeks ago once this meeting was announced as being shown live on Sky TV ? Any thoughts anyone? Thoughts? If you honestly think that being a PL promoter is so profitable that you don't have to work, then you are sadly mistaken. Please engage brain before posting. Baldyman
And did he turn up as a pundit?
Emma T
Thoughts? If you honestly think that being a PL promoter is so profitable that you don't have to work, then you are sadly mistaken. Please engage brain before posting. I think your probably right after reports of a very low (400 figure mentioned?) crowd for the Plymouth match! Oh and Baldy he did in fact turn up for Sky! Baldyman
So was that his first match for sky this year, as i don't watch it?
Super Blue
No , CL is at pretty much at everyone of the Sky meetings but not the Eurosport ones . Anyway , as a side issue , does anyone know if Richie Worrall is going to be back for the Glasgow meeting or will he still be recuperating with his broken toes ? dontforgetthefueltapsbruv
Chris is very much part of the Sky presentation team. The screenshot for the Sky Twitter contact for example has the mugshots of Pearson Tatum Charlie and Chris. He also of course has control of the 'Inside Track' box of tricks big screen on the TV progs. He does a very decent job of it too IMO. Baldyman
So from what you are saying, it's not as if Chris gave us up to concentrate on sky
Baldyman
Someone on the updates site said that morten didn't move off the curb all night, is this true? Cos as of this season he has been turning into a bit of a racer on occasions

Super Blue
Thought I'd put my congratulations on here for Gino Manzares making the American world cup team . Fully deserving as he has already made himself a firm favourite at Foxhall with the fans and upped his average in the process . Well done Gino , hope it all goes well for you !
dontforgetthefueltapsbruv
Matt Tiramasu has been released by Rye - should we be considering offering him a place?
Baldyman
So having had time to reflect on Thursdays performance, are we now going to make changes or just see out the season as is, and not make the play offs. Matt t has been let go by Rye house, surely he could do a fine job at number 2 or reserve for us. Ha ha you just beat me to it lol Edited July 19, 2014 by Baldyman
dontforgetthefueltapsbruv
Personally Im torn on this one. In many ways the change seems obvious but I also have a strong thought that we need to give the British youngsters a better chance. If we drop Adam now what message does that send about British Speedway in general.
2ndbendbeerhut
Depends on how many more meetings he is going to miss due when the French Fed call him back for Long track duty? No facility allowed so only a nl guest allowed but with Captain Hawkins at reserve this would possibly not be so bad?
Baldyman
Who says it has to be Adam, Cameron isn't exactly doing great. British youngsters do have to be given chance, but in most sports, sentiment doesn't come into it. Maybe we should see out this season as we are, and then just try again next year, maybe we will then benefit from sticking with both of them. All I know is that it's frustrating watching your team struggle when it could and should be doing a lot better. Some did say before the season started that our team only looks good enough for mid table, and that's probably where we will end up.
Super Blue
The team has so much potential but is seriously underachieving! Does Chris Louis want to be successful? If so he will make changes, if not then he won't. Simple really. I'd definitely bet a few bob he doesn't!
iandean3
The team has so much potential but is seriously underachieving! Does Chris Louis want to be successful? If so he will make changes, if not then he won't. Simple really. I'd definitely bet a few bob he doesn't! I think the Ipswich team/s of the past few years have all underachieved. There have been some really good teams built, but have not gone on to do anything. What does that say ? Is there something lacking in the ambition & desire to win, at the club ? There is a lot to be said for loyalty to riders and I applaud that. But a successful team brings in supporters and breeds success. Be bold !!!!
ColinMills
here we go... i CLEARLY no louis fan. i dont care one iota about ipswich any longer, but with it being a side i supported without fail at home for 37 yrs, and probably 15% away, id suggest, you focus on the promotion.. what do you hear coming out of the foxhall press office? very little. how many yrs do witches "see out season"?...do anyone actually believe they have rebuilt the witches?..what progress has actually been made?...i personally think the witches will scrape into the play offs, but is that whats really become of ipswich speedway? 6th spot in a lower tier? to claim to "re-build the club", you dont even own an out and out number 1, its a team of odds n ends..but hey. whats left of the "regulars", you enjoy it!
Baldyman
Your right we don't own a number one. Will we finish in play offs, at the moment that doesn't look likely unless we pick up points away. Super blue said does Chris Louis really want to be successful, to be honest I think he does, but will he do what's needed to bring success? I think probably not. Now there in lies the difference. Being successful will probably keep the gate at a sustainable level, but it probably costs more. At the end of the day the books have to be balanced, and is their really any incentive to put out a winning team? The way I see it is this, if the promotion can make a little profit with the current amount of punters through the gate, then we will carry on as we are, if not, then we won't.
dontforgetthefueltapsbruv
I agree that finances are a factor in whether changes are made as much as success. There is no point winning the league if it breaks the bank.
