Ipswich 2014

Depends on the limit.

I didnt add it up at first. Estimate this team at about 50 on PL terms 30 El so perhaps a little low but probably not too much.

For the majority of PL clubs to accept an almalgamation it would have to be close to that.

Would love to see the club riding in the top tier again. It's not so much the better standard of rider (and I appreciate that gap isn't what it once was), it's more the clubs that are currently in the two divisions.

There hasn't really been any kind of rivalry for Ipswich in the PL, and I think riding against Lynn, Peterborough, Lakeside and Eastbourne again would give the club a lift.

The team has done fairly well in the PL, but I just feel that this season things have been a little flat around Foxhall.

More local rivalry is needed in my opinion.

We would need to be more competitive than last time out, and avoid the cheap rubbish Pole route we took a shine to.

But with any top flight expected to cut costs further with the threat of the Sky deal not renewing, perhaps it may become a little more affordable and worth another shot.

Going to be an interesting few months ahead.

In reality I dont see one big league happening.

Even without Sky funds I cant see a number of the Elite coming down to that sought of level.

Perhaps we will see a Super 6 set up with the other 4 joining the PL.

The main thing is for us to hang on to Tungate & Heeps.

Again, unless Ipswich re-join the top tier in whatever shape or form that is in the next few years, that will be impossible as Heeps in particular with outgrow the PL in a year or two if he maintains his progress.

Ideally, would be nice to have both in reserve berths for the top flight Witches.

I agree with this, seem to have been going through the motions this season and it's been the quietest I can remember for years.

I personally have badly missed the Lynn derby.

Good Friday, Kings Lynn at Foxhall. Sounds good to me.

Do we really want to go back in the top league and be wooden spoon contenders again? A meeting every few weeks? Seems people have forgotten how bad it was when we were last there. When we dropped down we were meant to be re building for the future, apart from 2 riders, that hasn't exactly happened has it. If we were back in the top flight think it would be suicide. It would be great though having some matches against some of the teams mentioned.

Well we didn't rebuild last season did we? We used our own assets and borrowed others. If that was the plan then it hasn't really happened asset wise.

A lot depends on the top flight set up, but If it's a set up in which we wouldn't be able to be competitive then we wouldn't make that jump.

Only Louis will know if he can assemble a competitive top flight team.

I know bruv has stated in the last few days that he's enjoyed this year and been entertained, but I've got to be honest I've found this season pretty boring and I'm losing interest fast.

I'm hoping for news that will reignite my interest but each to their own.

That's the problem isn't it, we are not in a great position to rejoin the top flight. It would still mean borrowing plenty of riders again. What we dropped down to do we haven't really done. Could we really afford to pay top money for a couple of top riders?

Well we did, and for more years than I care to remember. And we only dropped down a division because we didn't have a major team sponsor, which we now have.

Who knows Baldy, but I agree with Catch22 something needs to breath new life in to the Witches because things seem to have gone very stale.

I can see positives and negatives for both Leagues if I'm honest, but again It's the clubs in the top flight that I miss riding against.

Although I would love to see the highest possible standard of Speedway available at Foxhall next year I will be happy to go with whatever level is financially viable !

Ultimately we dropped down because we couldn't afford to compete in the EL and that may possibly still be the case as im sure most of us have no idea of the precise level of sponsorship Sackers very kindly provide us with .

Im sure there will be teams across the board that are going to struggle to come up with the cash for the compulsory safety fences and also those around that have been on the edge financially this year anyway .

Obviously this is all speculation as nobody knows how the league's will be set up or how many there will be or wether sky still be involved or not so my humble opinion is at this stage that I will take any Speedway that is sustainable in the current economical environment over none at all !

You are both right we do need new life breathed into the club. I am sure a lot of it has something to do with the total lack of atmosphere. If there was atmosphere and noise and a more uplifted crowd, I think it would then at least seem interesting. Other tracks manage to produce atmosphere and it does seem to make a difference when I visit.
