oldtimer
This is a vital match to decide who finishes top of the League and gets first choice in Play offs. The quote in The Star says, "Matches don't come bigger than this, would like to think that Somerset fans will come out in droves," I hope there is a good attendance, although many may feel that they are being short changed with Doyle and Barker due to miss todays postponed match and it would seem they and Morris may also be absent on Monday. This is particularly annoying when Somerset did not make the League Cup finals and had blank Fridays on the days reserved for early season rain offs. There were no matches at home on the weeks that ended on Friday 26th April, Friday 24th May and Friday 12 July. Why not move League matches forward to these dates at start of season and then move these reserved dates towards the end of season to account for rain offs, instead of this end of season scrabbling around trying to fit matches in before the cut off date. It's not Somerset's fault, I'm sure they don't want weeks with no matches in the Summer, it needs an independent body to look at fixtures, use some common sense (wouldn't that be welcome in speedway) and tell clubs to move fixtures, also get the League cup out of the way by mid season instead of it dragging on for 7 months. gusworld
Makes Monday's top of the table clash a bit of a farce!
Arson fire
If Edinburgh beat newcastle on Sunday it will make an interesting Monday Comets v monarchs Rebels v witches Somerset could finish 3rd and that would be a travesty

cyclone
The problem is riders doubling up...if teams don't want this problem then don't sign riders who will double up??. Quite often riders are signed up by PL clubs before an EL club subsequently takes them on as double ups. Furthermore EL clubs are now changing their double ups during the season for strategic reasons (e.g. Howarth from Poole to Swindon) or injury replacements (e.g. Screen for Roynon @ Coventry). Therefore you cannot always know in advance who will end up registered for both a PL and an EL club. The previous arrangement where PL fixtures always took precedence, meant the likes of Monday's Somerset vs Ipswich staffing farce would not occur. It has been suggested the new arrangement of double ups fixture priority was put in place as part of an agreement to ensure that those riding in Danish & Swedish leagues would honour their UK commitments over re-arranged Scandinavian matches and vice versa. IMO the EL have benefited at the expense of the PL, and the PL clubs should insist on a return to the 2012 system next year.
Catalan
Believe it was an Elite promoter who got this through. One with very low scruples and it wasn't anyone from the south coast.

oldtimer
The answer is scrap the League Cup, which drags on as a filler all season, then you would have a few blank dates so that you could re arrange matches when riders were available. Fixtures have to be more flexible, matches with Doyle missing for World Cup and trying to finish the League matches on the last day before the cut off, just shows a lack of planning and common sense.
workman1
I see that the Kings Lynn v Brummy match cancelled today and will go ahead weds when Rebels are riding Edinburgh. Are we going to be without Jason. Does not bode well
gusworld
The Witches have a great chance to win now that the Rebels have lost their top two and will probably have a passenger at reserve. The Rebels management should reduce the admission prices for this one as top riders are missing from both teams.

Does not bode well As Somerset vs Edinburgh was logged in the Official fixtures first, would expect Rebels have priority for Doyle's services on Wednesday.
Starman2006
Hope this is on, Rebels need this, R/R will cover Doyley but the reserves need to come to the party. Really and truely if this is off the powers that be need to extend the cut off date, as it just doesn't just affect Somerset.
