Newcastle V Edinburgh Pl Sunday 15th September @ 6.30pm

Good win to prove be can beat Monarchs at home even if they were missing few rider dont think it would have mattered much. Also Diamonds threw away loads of points especially reruns and r/r was awful. Anton also not at his best but even more track time for him and still got a decent score. Well done Lewis need him to continue form and was happy with Ludvig peformance also needs to keep it going.

Did you come on the wrong thread? ;)

Anyway no - he took gate 4.

Oh and by the way, while you're here, updater's comments for heat 11.............

Heat 11

Rosen, Schramm, Cook, Sneddon

Result: Sneddon, Cook, Rosen, Schramm (65.8) 1-5 (34-32)

Deek around the outside which allowed Cookie through the inside,Cook rode good race to protect Deek

But of course he can't team ride :drink:

Not the wrong thread at all. I was genuinely interested to see what the Monarchs chose to do.

I took the heat 11 comments as Deek doing the bulk of the work - 'Deeks outside move allowed Cook through on the inside' (wink)

Cookie is so fast, has he 'borrowed' an engine out of the back of Gollob's van?

Maybe you can strip it down just before a meeting... Wouldn't have been the first time that's happened at Brough Park!!!!

Maybe we should start calling him "The 498 Cookie":)

Whatever!!!

So how about this from the offiical site...............

Craig Cook was exceptional again in scoring his fourth successive maximum at Premier level. He team rode Derek Sneddon home in heat 11 for a 5-1

I rest my case m'lud.

Derek was anything but quick, Cook was having to go into the turns wide and cut back to avoid running into him. Rosen was right with them for most of the race. The time was almost 3 seconds slower than Cook did two heats later.

The wink at the the end surely gave it away that I was just teasing!!

So just for you....

Well done Cookie for a masterful display of unabounded class and unmatched skill.

A very good match. Edinburgh after the first couple of heats looked likely winners. It took the Diamonds a few heats to get back on level terms and from then on it was anybody's match. Heat 14 had Ludvig and Lewis and the lads did it with a 5-1 leaving an easier Heat 15 job for Richie and Ludvig whom only had to fill the minor places to get us the victory and all three league points.

Craig Cook was a class above the whole Newcastle side, Richie Worrall has still a little way to go before he joins the likes of the Cookie Monster as a member of England's elite.

Good match and today Newcastle welcome Plymouth Devils. Be good to see Mark Lemon again and the highly rated Michael Bech

The local weather report is much better than Sundays so come up Devils and get beaten by the rampant Diamonds

Whatever set up Cook has found for Brough (and I cast no aspersions regarding engine size, it could be wheelbase or gearing or jetting related) he is sensationally quick coming out of the bends. The drive he gets is incredible and he just walks away from the Diamonds time and again.

The Diamonds were fortunate that

1. Summer went completely to bits in the second half of the match

2. Lewis Kerr obviously needed the points riding his second bike to pay for the damage to his first.

Lindgren and Tully did their jobs well, although Ludvig has a habit of starting slowly and coming good at the end of matches. Richie had another poor one by his standards. That's two on the trot. Maybe he is getting tired riding every night of the week!

What I have noticed about Cookie (and I was Joking about the engine for the simpler souls amongst us) is that his saddle is a lot further forward than many riders, how that changes the balance and drive he achieves I'm not sure, but it seems to work very well, especially with the drive he gets out of the bends.

Summers was lucky to get the points he did. Had races not been re-run he would have only scored 3 points. With Lewis it looked like they straightened his first bike out so he didn't need to change to his second.

It used to be 40-38 win was happiness, but to beat the Monarchs home or away has to be up there as well for me.

They were fortunate to get the early lead(not heat 1 though), and got points throughout the meeting with reruns which of course produced lesser results for the Diamonds in about 4 heats. Probably cost us about 6 to 8 points overall. Outrageous riding by Tabaka to take off Tully, dangerous and stupid, then lay down on the first bend to get our 5-1 stopped. Just hope he got fined for one or both incidents.

After the early setbacks, the Diamonds came back strong and put together a tough team performance which was needed to take the win, and especially to take all three points as well.

Richie again not on true form, but it was reassuring that he and Chris went out regularly after the meeting to test their engines and settings, in advance of tonight's meeting against Plymouth.

Mention was made of Cook and team riding. Well he did try and help a slow DEEK around and succeeded, but his tactics were all wrong. The back man usually cover the inside to protect his partner and force the chasing rider to try to go outside which the team rider can then block. Cookie was outside, behind DEEK, which, if Rosen could have found even average grip round the whiteline, could have resulted in him shooting across the inside and possible take both of them. Still got the 1-5 though but Rosen possible should have taken a different line at times.

Congrats go to Jonny S and the track team, especially the other helpers who got the sheets down with all the difficulties caused by the weather and the high winds. Sheets were put down across the corners and were lifted about 2.00pm, only to then receive the heavy rains which came about 4 hours late according to all forecasts. Jonny then had to mop it up and start track prep which is usually started at about 9.00am. It needed a little time to settle down and, with a bit of extra grading, it turned into a good racing strip. Another great performance and maximum for Cookie who was s**t hot and just passed everyone with ease. Good job for us he only got to ride 5 rides.

Second half had a NJL meeting between the Gems and the Cubs, who edged it 12-11, and it was watched by a decent crowd who stayed behind if freezing conditions. Nasty 'off' for Kev and Luke who were shaken, and Kev got second in the rerun. Luke could not ride. League debut for our Josh, who got a paid win heat one, and eventually got 3 +1 in the meeting. Just the start.

Now on to Plymouth tonight and hopefully a good 3 points.

So Cooks team riding was actually more luck than judgement!!?

Only joking!!

To be fair, he was struggling to ride slow enough to 'keep up' with Deek.

The assessment is nonsense. If he had ridden inside and just behind, the normal way of doing things, he would have invited an outside overtake. He did cut back to ride inside coming out of the turns. It had to be an improvised ride.

I can't fathom why Tsunami was never world champion. Perhaps it was too many reruns.

So you can have an opinion of his team riding, but others like me cant, and have to face your wrath. Yea right. An expected reply , bang on time and 'liked' by the usual Monarch suspects.

And then they object to the tag of 'Smug'. :P
