Kent Kings V Wimbledon, now 16/09/2013

Recommended Posts

Well he normally makes his decisions in favour of Wimbledon, so why not? ;)

Seriously you REALLY should've gone to Specsavers!!

It tends to remind me of an old Music Hall joke that featured a "a man on the Clapham Omnibus".

Well, as you're the man on the 'Streatham omnibus' I can well imagine that you were dancing in the aisles of the Elephant & Castle Hippodrome to that ditty!! :P

What we need to do in the few days before the match, hopefully by then with any updates, is to analyse how many points we expect Kent Kings to win by.

Do we?? Really man??? Sorry but I have a life to lead so will let you entertain yourself with that one!!!!!!

Well trying to predict and debate a match result is one of the positive reasons for joining forums? You obviously have a different agenda?

Funny that I thought most people joined forums to put across there own self opinionated views, and to rundown the sport they profess to support.

Most debate on forums end up as a slagging off between forumers, or one forumer being totally out of agreement with everyone else, but still trying to gain blagging points.:D

As you rightly say Slick Mick - that is what eventually happens in BSF debates - nobody backs down - hence the mini-rows and silly comments that start. Many BSF posters also adhere to another old quotation that is something like "I have many faults but being wrong isn't one of them!"

Well I must admit I'm with Gustix on this. I shall be very glad to have the opportunity to debate how Wimbledon might do, having not had the option to do so for a number of years. Whilst I'm glad that it is still possible to have a side that features some riders with genuine Dons connections I wouldn't have been overly concerned if the side hadn't. If Mr Taggart or any other person buys Plough Lane and speedway returns I'll support whatever team is put out - and I doubt there will be too many connections to previous Dons riders at that point!

I'm sure the Kent promoters have tried to put together a Wimbledon side that they think will be competetive, but will lead to a Kent win - that would seem a sound business decision as one sided challenge matches don't usually please anyone. I hope they have got the balance slightly wrong and Wimbledon win.

Personally I don't give a monkeys, whether the Wimbledon team is all riders who rode in the Dons colours,

I understand the team I suggested to Mr Cearns of:

Kevin and Neville Tatum,

Jamie and Jeremy Luckhurst,

Roger and Peter Johns,

and Moggo.

Were unavailable, so he went for different riders.

Pity they cant get some of these riders (or others) for a demonstration/fun race. This would take most of the pressure off them - rather than taking part in a team event when not match fit and on borrowed equipment. I think that would increase the crowd size.

If nothing else it should be an excuse for Wimbledon supporters to meet up again . . .

As i see it Kent fans get a fixture which gives them regularity which most EL fans would love the opposition could be named after any defunct team but the choice of Wimbledon gives their fans who now watch another team and lapsed supporters the chance to have a night out and cheer on their team. I hope its a great meeting in perfect weather and even though Sittingbourne is just this side of the back of beyond if it was Kent vs Oxford Cheetahs ( Rebels or Silver Machine ) i would be there to cheer on my team.

Spot on 'Triple H', and that's the very reason I'm making the journey from King's Lynn to Sittingbourne, to cheer on old club Wimbledon, and hopefully see some Dons fans I used to mix with on the Plough Lane terraces before I moved away from the London area. Of course there won't be much connection with the previous Wimbledon sides, but watching Elite League racing this year, and that does include my own team King's Lynn, we generally finish up watching a 'Select' side anyway, albeit for genuine reasons. In my eyes that's no different to watching a Wimbledon 'Select'. Our line-up at the Norfolk Arena tomorrow is: - 1) Guest or R/R 2) Lasse Bjerre (Only just returned) 3) Mads Korneliussen 4) Richie Worrall 5) Guest or R/R 6) Nicklas Porsing 7) Kozza Smith (Guest).;........hardly Elite League........hardly King's Lynn, but at the end of the day it's all speedway racing, whatever you call it, which is the sport I thought we all supported.

Please note the cancelled meeting against Coventry from last night has been rearranged for next Monday, 12th August and replaces the Wimbledon meeting.

I will try and find out from the promotion the rearranged date for the Wimbledon fixure as soon as I can.

I am sorry for any inconvience.

Oh rubbishe!!

Oh rubbishe!!

That was supposed to say 'Oh rubbishe'

What's going on with these postings of mine, once again I'm trying to say 'Oh rubbishe'

I give up, you probably know what I'm trying to say.

That's what I was typing Rob, but it turned itself into rubbishe. I'm having real problems posting on this forum, because when I hit the return key, it won't drop down to the next line for me. Any other forum I post on, everything is okay, it's just the BSF.

The word change could be because the BSF has a 'banned words' set up and makes amendments automatically. I don't know but they do have this on Proboards sites.

I also tried the offensive word and while it appeared in this Post initially it did change to rubbish when I posted. I then deleted - but was there any need to use that word when rubbish will do?

Looking at the website, it looks like the next available Monday is the 9th September, and what a great weekend that would be if the match against Wimbledon was to be held then, as that would afford travellers like myself, the opportunity to attend the final and deciding round of the British Youth Championship at Iwade on Sunday, stop over the night, and go to Central Park on the Monday.

Hate to be bearer of more 'bad news' Mimmo, but my understanding is (John C posted it a week or so back...) that the GB Youth meeting at nearby Iwade has been put back to 22nd. Sept.

I didn't know that 'Parsloes', so thanks for letting me know. Sadly that would mean me going to Iwade and having to miss the Kent v Wimbledon fixture, as my pocket at this moment in time wouldn't allow two trips to the Garden of England, and I wouldn't want to miss the British Youth Championship.

I am not trying to spark an adverse reaction - but wonder why you do not prefer the higher grade Kent Kings v Wimbledon match at a much better venue?

Derek, Do you know where I can get OFFICIAL confirmation that the BYC is to be held at Iwade on the 22nd September. The reason for asking is because it's the NLRC at Rye House the previous evening, and it would make sense to book a motel rather than try and undertake two trips, that is if the wife will give me my pocket money early  Mike
