Mimmo
I am not trying to spark an adverse reaction - but wonder why you do not prefer the higher grade Kent Kings v Wimbledon match at a much better venue? Hi 'gustix', I won't give you an adverse reaction. I've seen all but one round of the British Youth Championships this year, as has been the case the previous 2-years, and these kids apart from hopefully being a big part of British speedway's future, are a joy to watch. Their whole approach is so professional, and there are no gaps between races, as soon as one heat finishes, the riders for the next race are on their way to tapes. There are normally approximately 50-races for £5 and meetings are usually completed within 3-hours. The entire British Youth set-up is run so efficiently by Neil Vatcher & Phil Morris, and EVERYBODY involved in the running of this tournament, no matter what the venue, are a credit to the sport they are representing. Obviously 'Central Park' is a far superior stadium to 'The Old Gun Site', in fact I personally think that as a venue, it wouldn't be out of place in the Elite League, although the car park isn't really big enough possibly. But Iwade (The Old Gun Site) has a lovely family feel about it, and on a nice sunny and warm day, is one of my favourite venues in the country to visit, along with Buxton and Scunthorpe. If finances permit I'll do both, but if the Kent v Wimbledon meeting happens on either the 9th or 16th September, then I couldn't afford it, because the day before the suggested 22nd September staging of the BYC, the NLRC is taking place at Rye House, and it would be cheaper for me to stop over after that meeting, and just nip into Kent next morning. The only worry is, that the later into the season we get, the cooler it becomes, and Iwade is not the place to be on a cold or damp day, not with my creaky bones!! Hi mate - well I agree it's not really been released as officially as it should've been, being a GB championship and all that - but I've just 'forwarded' on the posting the 'Sittingbourne' (ie Iwade) club posted a week or so back. That's as 'official' as I've seen tbh Thanks DB, I'm in a quandary like 'cityrebel' and didn't want to miss either of the spoken about meetings, but sadly it looks as though I'll now have to. You realise you'll be getting a programme request in all probability?? Will you be at the NA next Wednesday or not, I've got some lovely key-rings Cheers MM
lucifer sam
Gustix is a very hard task master, so in order to satisfy his need for the Dons team to contain names with a long association with Wimbledon, could I suggest the following for whenever the new date is: 1. Great Uncle Bulgaria 2. Tomsk 3. Orinoco 4. Bungo 5. Tobermory 6. Wellington 7. Madame Cholet No doubt that Parsloes will then be able to regal us with tales such as the time Great Uncle Bulgaria was excluded for two minutes because his goggles had misted up! All the best Rob Edited August 7, 2013 by lucifer sam
Blazeaway
The reason for this fixture being arranged is pretty obvious. Kent had a potentially blank lucrative Monday bang in the middle of the summer holidays which they decided to fill with an attractive meeting with Wimbledon and fairplay to them for that. I would guess The dons would have brought a few more fans than Coventry will so Kent must be gutted that Mondays meeting was called off. I wasn't able to make next Monday but I should be able to make the rearranged date, which is handy!

That may be difficult! Robert Oliver Reed (13 February 1938 – 2 May 1999) RIP.
SFTGNigel
Anyone have any more information on this meeting now it's a week away. I mentioned it to the chap who runs the Kent and Rye House track shops at the latter's meeting last week and it all seemed a bit sketchy. Sir Sidney
Does any one know the Wimbledon team for next week? Also, could anyone let me know what time on average meetings are finishing so I can see if I can get home by train Thanks Edited September 3, 2013 by Sir Sidney

All should soon be officially revealed fairly soon at http://www.kentkings.co/news/2013_news.html I know the team but cannot reveal it. But I'll say this much - "the names given are more than a good calculated guess!"

Also, could anyone let me know what time on average meetings are finishing so I can see if I can get home by train Thanks I think their curfew is 8:30pm and I'm pretty sure I was out a litlle before that on the one meeting I attended to comfortably get the London train. Parsloes 1928 nearly
Does any one know the Wimbledon team for next week? Also, could anyone let me know what time on average meetings are finishing so I can see if I can get home by train Thanks Getting back to London by train (if indeed that's the direction you want..) is extremely easy - the advantage of the early finish! The track's about a 15 minute walk from the station - usually not difficult to find a friendly person to give you a lift back to the railway station! Don'sfreelancerider
Andre Cross has been getting ready for this and been told he is not wanted. Not good
Guest
Andre Cross has been getting ready for this and been told he is not wanted. Not good Then who is his replacement? What is the Dons' team for this match? I must say I am surprised to hear this - Andre was also named for the previous match. It's hard to understand why. Sir Sidney
Thanks for the info on times and transport. As long as I can get away from work in time I intend to go. I wish Kent would release the line up for the meeting - the more genuine Dons links the better, so I'm a bit dissapointed if Andre isn't going to ride

Mimmo
Looking at the long range weather forecast, it probably won't matter who was programmed to ride anyway. Unless it suddenly changes, I won't make the long journey....sadly.
