Edinburgh V Ipswich(pl) Now 10/9 (was 6/9) @ 7.30pm

Recommended Posts

Another tough meeting for the boys in blue & gold with the witches making an appearance this time. Max is hoping to be fit for Friday but will be very doubtful so a guest can be used. As for the witches they will have Ashley Birks guesting at number 1 for the injured Ben Barker and will also have a guest in Kasper Lykke for the injured Ritchie Hawkins who always seems to get injured or a illness of some kind when ever he is supposed to be at Armadale but that's a different story.

Line ups for Friday:

Edinburgh

  1. Craig Cook
  2. Derek Sneddon
  3. Theo Pijper
  4. Joe Tabaka
  5. Claus Vissing
  6. Liam Carr (G)
  7. Max Fricke (if fit)

Ipswich

  1. Ashley Birks (G)
  2. Cameron Heeps
  3. Rohan Tungate
  4. Leigh Lanham
  5. Morten Rasiger
  6. Adam Ellis
  7. Kasper Lykke (G)

Id be delighted to see the Witches get within 10 points. Picking up a consolation point would be a remarkable effort.

Ashley Birks goes well at Edinburgh, scored 12+1 from 6 there earlier this year. Somerset, Berwick, Newcastle and Plymouth are all riding that night(Coventry and Kings Lynn in EL). This basically leaves the following......

Richard Lawson 8.42 (8-0-5)

Rene Bach 7.96 (3-0-4)

Magnus Karlsson 7.79 (5-0-4)

Micky Dyer 7.58 (8-0-4)

Josh Auty 7.57 (6-0-5)

Ricky Wells 7.43 n/a

Ashley Birks 7.16 (12-1-6)

Nikolai Klindt 7.07 n/a

Who would be better? Looks like the Witches may have done some homework.....(2013 scores in brackets)

Would probably have gone with Klindt out of that lot. Birks is decent at Edinburgh though and should score some points. Those saying Ipswich will be lucky to stay within 10pts? Are you for real? Edinburgh are suspect at times at home and looking at the reserves (more than not where a match is won), the Twitchers will heavily outscore the home 6 & 7. A lot depends on the fitness of Max and who the potential replacement would be if deemed not fit.

I expect a home win but the Twitchers to take a point.

Barker is a huge loss to us, and may cost us some silverware, but time will tell

so what if you get any silverware there,s a lot of team with or without any fit riders as long as they are o.k to fight another day that,s the main thing , please remember poor ricky at berwick he,s in the hands of the gods appart from that enjoy your speedway it,s not all about trophys

A little bit of an over reaction...? Everyone that follows speedway knows the risks and fully supports anyone who suffers as a result of them (whether they are for the team you support or not). At the end of the day the riders are competing to win trophies and the supporters are hoping their team wins just like any other sport....

Given the relative league positions I would be happy maintaining our away point streak but both teams have changes etc so that could throw a spanner in the works. Without Ben Barker riding (given the events of the last meeting), the 'Dale faithful will just have to go back to their anti-Louis/Witches regime which will maintain the hostile atmosphere.

I would say Birks is the best out of that bunch around Armadale with the possible exception of Ricky Wells who scored 14 from 5 recently (including a 6-pointer) for Sheffield, the week after a good 9 points in the Scottish Open. Rene Bach & Josh Auty both used to be great round here, but haven't been so good recently.

Ashley is always great value at Armadale with generally good scoring and spectacular riding - often from the back. Looking forward to seeing him and the Witches in what I'm sure will be a good close match.

And with good reason! The man has come out with some absolute drivel in recent weeks...

I think if the guests can score reasonably well it might be possible for the Witches to get something from tonights match but I do fear its going to be our first away meeting where we come back pointless .

With Ben and Ritchie I would certainly feel much more confident about it but you have to go with what you've got .

Its a shame Ben can't be there in some way , even if to only wind up Cookie ( tongue in cheek )

Let's just hope everyone stays safe and its a good competitive meeting .
