Ariel75
There's no need for that sort of language Be interesting to see Albin, although he seems to have been struggling recently - machinery and/or long season? This season, he's probably ridden more matches, and more regularly, than ever before. Maassen could be useful, or way out of his depth. He comes from a speedway town (Nordhastedt), and apparently has good backing, so will probably be well turned out. Lambert still battling away - sometimes pops up with a good race at Foxhall. Compton - no idea when he last rode at Foxhall, so it will definitely be like a new track for him. These closet Witches fans at Workington have some strange ideas! I think blupanther was comparing the likely threat of Sheffield with that posed by any play-off opponent, chosen or otherwise. Looking at the remainiggn fixtures, Ipswich & Somerset are most likely to be the top two, so can avoid each other, but then one will chose either Edinburgh or Newcastle, alongside either Workington or Leics/Redcar (?) - for the Witches, none of those are first choice! Facu only lost one meeting.this season.- With Wells the two tigers with most meetings.......
2ndbendbeerhut
Compton - no idea when he last rode at Foxhall, so it will definitely be like a new track for him. Rode for Glasgow on 27th June, scored 6 from 5, inc heat 14 win.
Roland
Ricky Wells looking quick, must be placing himself in position to be guesting later in the month?
Baldyman
Ricky would score more than both our guests put together tonight. Was kasper really the only choice?
Baldyman
So what happened to the German lad, did he just give up and home or was he sacked?
SCB
The German seems to have missed more rides than hes taken so far in his short British career.
Lord Antebellum
The German seems to have missed more rides than hes taken so far in his short British career. He was quite good last Friday at Plymouth in his last ride, when (I think) he had his only ride on his own bike. But I suspect you've got it right about a short UK career. Have you really made 41,055 posts? And have a life?
Super Blue
The result of this meeting certainly flattered the Witches IMO , it was only the misfortunes of Sheffield that made us look good . 5 races in a row with only 1 rider gifted the convincing looking victory and 3 league points . let's be honest only 4 pts ahead after 8 heats was hardly scintillating stuff . It will be much tougher next week if we don't choose the right guest or guests depending on Ritchie's fitness.
dontforgetthefueltapsbruv
Gotta feel sorry for Olly Allen. Its getting to the point when the programme will be pre printed with fell - withdrawn when he visits Foxhall. Wells - brilliant (Barker guest possible?) Compton - competitive Albin - solid Lambert - wanted to mix it and got very unlucky Maassen - doesnt really deserve a mention
2ndbendbeerhut
That was shocking, Sheffield didn't have much luck losing Allen in heat 1, (after a coming together with Compton) and then Lambert sliding off and not riding again.... but apparently the Tigers were sharing bikes! That meant that with Lambert and his bike now out of the meeting we had to put up with only 1 Tiger in 5 heats! Wells as expected did well looked fast early on, had a couple of good races with Tungate but suffered a bike problem in 15 when in third. Maassen was dire, it was muted that he had good equipment, well where was it? Albin did ok on first visit to Foxhall, beat Lykke 3 times, beat Maassen and then had no team mate twice. Compton got stuck in, his bike did half the heats by the looks of it! So after a bit dodgy start the Witches easily won, only crazy thing was no Witch went unbeaten, Heeps looked over his injury and Ellis was making good starts and first corners, possibly highest score in PL so far in career? (paid 12)

Baldyman
Would have been investing to see what would have happened if Allen hadn't have got injured in the first race. Was Lykke our only choice of guest? Never seen him do anything at Ipswich and so it proved again. And we have him tomorrow aswell. We made very hard work of that really. Some great support from the tigers fans, well done to them.
2ndbendbeerhut
Yeah forgot to say , fair play to the Tigers fans that were there tonight. fortunately its not always like that at Foxhall!

Ipswich couldn't fail to win in the circumstances but made hard work of it for half the meeting. Definitely missed Barker & Hawkins despite the scoreline! Sheffield unlucky & hope Allen & Lambert are ok. Boring meeting with hardly any passing & several heats with only 3 riders.
Lord Lucan
David Hoggart apologised halfway through the meeting, and rightly so. Fair enough that the Tigers had injury problems, but to not have serviceable bikes was very poor. Allen is just crash & injury prone, full stop. Not anyone I spoke to was surprised that he withdrew - at the very least he's got some important fixtures coming up for Rye, so can't risk any knocks or machinery damage. Lambert is confusing - so determined, but looked really wild tonight and unless he had machinery problems there was no need to go piling into the third bend while at the back. He's had ankle problems before - hope its not as bad as feared. I'm not convinced about Albin - he tried hard but was struggling to get round the bends sometimes, perhaps he was on borrowed bikes? Have they made a mistake with Maassen? He would struggle in the NL, so why not give Jake Knight a few rides again, or another young Brit? Wells looked unbeatable to start with, defeating all the Witches - but they gained some revenge later in the meeting, with Tungate working really hard and deserving his MotM award. Compton clearly enjoying his racing and got stuck in. That's about it. Not a lot to say about the Witches - they looked thoroughly professional compared to their opponents. Anything from Lykke at Armadale will be an improvement - or will they try to get a guest for him?! Admittedly that is only your opinion HE, but if that were the case then why would Allen take the booking in the first place? All that it,s achieved was an appearance of between 1 and 4 laps, left Sheffield high and dry and contributed nothing to the meeting afterwards, no one turns up deliberately to do that even if they have got an alternative agenda in mind and, to be fair, Rye have a pointless league fixture at home to the Comets on Saturday would he be expected to miss that while waiting for the Cup final, don't think so!! Maybe your knowledge of Ollie Allen tactics is from a far greater depth of experience than mine in which case I bow to your highness but, I just think Dave Hoggard merely dialled the wrong guy for this match, Richard Lawson is his normal speed dial choice and although not always at his best at Foxhall, would probably have hung around a bit longer and given you a better match, (he says)? Shadders
Anything from Lykke at Armadale will be an improvement - or will they try to get a guest for him?! Far from convinced by him. Actually dropped his average this year and can't gate for $hit. I'll be amazed if he's back with the Rockets next year. Elephantman
This meeting was a microcosm of Sheffield's season. Lost the guest in heat one to a heavy fall (I don't accept some of the comments made questioning his integrity), The Sheffield lads then got stuck in for what I guess they already knew was going to be a long night but were holding their own only to lose Simon Lambert to injury and the new lad have his engine(s) blow. So all in all carnage but I don't think you can question the comittment of the Sheffield Team that turned out; they were just dreadfully unlucky. I don't understand the crticism of Maassen at this early stage of his UK career; I could swear I read a number of posts where it was suggested the managment should get some "kids" in to give them a chance and build an asset base for next season; having done that I don't think its helpful to write the bloke off when he is seeing tracks for the first time and learning as he goes. What is commonly known as a bad day at the office, enlightened by the performances of Ricky Wells, Facu and Andre.
