Plymouth V Newcastle Premier League Friday 06/09/2013

Recommended Posts

Here we go all the way from the north east to the south coast for a league match hoping to come away with some league points.

A weakened bottom of the table side like Sheffield went to Plymouth and only lost by 9 points so look out you devils the "weakened" diamonds are coming, it should be a closer match than Sheffield's with a possible last heat decider job on the cards.

How big is the Plymouth track and what are the bends like? big and fast or small and tricky? Whatever happens I hope the Diamonds entertain an no-one gets injured

Track is 216 metres long. Ricky Wells is guest for Plymouth.

A pretty small track. I know nothing about the venue and ain't likely to ever visit as is so far away from my Tyneside shack. Our riders perform well on most tracks so the tiddler way down south may just suit most of our team. I am told Anton Rosen likes bigger tracks so it will be interesting to see how he goes at Plymouth. He will have to adapt in the PL to varying tracks. Ricky Wells is a good rider who will score points on Friday, a good choice of guest. I think Newcastle may shock the home side. The Diamonds are a strong side and this is our last chance to do well in an away league match I Think? Wish I could be there but with the price of petrol I will give this long haul a miss and "watch it" on the live service on the Newcastle Website instead. I hope the diamonds are entertaining for the home fans and we come away with maximum league points

Yeh I don't know when the Plymouth supporters will be told, just before they go maybe, or maybe not, I think the person who made the decision to call the meeting off, needs to tell the home supporters the same time.

9.25am on Twitter!!

Who goes on Twitter to find out a Speedway meeting is off, all due respect mate, most people are at work at that time, unless it rains, a lot of the supporters would not have a clue the meeting was off, one thing I have learnt over the years, never listen the weather forcast, if the meeting is going to be called off, let the supporters know the same time has everyone else, it was on the Newcastle site way before the Devils fans knew.

Clearly this was done early to prevent riders and away fans from travelling huge distances to no purpose. You can ask the Devils on Tour what that's like.

At risk of stating the obvious, as a general rule home supporters don't have to travel so far.

So when did they know the weather was going to be bad for the Friday, on Thursday, so why leave it till the Friday morning, when everyone knew on the Thursday what the forcast for the Friday was, I don't see the point in waiting till the Friday morning, because up until mid Friday afternoon it was sunny, and it was still cancelled in the morning, so being sunny on Friday morning made no difference to the decision to put the meeting off.

A bit contradictory that (no offence). How do you tell supporters a meeting is off if they are at work? Newcastle, a few seasons ago, tried a great idea. Fans gave them their mobile phone number and if a meeting was called off they were sent a text telling them so. Otherwise "telling the supporters at the same time as everyone else" is obviously pointless in your eyes, as they are at work and not on Twitter/Facebook/Official website etc., etc.
