The Doctor...
The rule isn't about nationality, It's about the type of license you have, You need a PZM license.. You don't need to be polish. How many other riders from outside of Poland ride on a pzm license ? Not many thats for sure.

I know, Because those rider don't apply because they ride on a UK, DMU or SVEMO license. It's the perfect rule without breaking EU laws... It's a way around it Rune Holta springs to mind along with Ryan Sullivan. Edited September 7, 2013 by Hougaard Racing Fans

They arent good examples at all. Andy Smith ( a rider who raced before you went to speedway) took out a Polish license and it got him nowhere. It's a non starter. It just wont happen these days. Bagpuss
Our youth set up isn't adequate for guaranteed British spots. If and when something is ever set up to match Poland, Sweden or Denmark so that we have a group of 15 year olds coming into the NL each year who are ready a year or two later to hold their own in the PL it might be different. That is not to disregard the hard work that already goes on at U15 level but it needs to be much more. However rather than see Brits handed spots we should be making it harder for foreign riders who are clearly not up to the job like Edberg, Lykke, Nielsen, Davey, Dilger etc to stay if they don't reach a certain average. While I accept that riders such as Worrall, Branford, Perry & Bates have lost PL places this year through lack of points there are others who haven't been given the chance. Bates has shown in a couple of guest bookings for Embra that he has improved this season and nobody expected Lewi Kerr to produce what he has for Newcastle. Sometimes it pays to give an inexperienced Brit a chance rather than a more experienced foreigner who will never make the grade.

Agree with most of that to me all teams should have to have a junior team say of 4 riders and have a 7 heat match after each senior match v there counterparts I think that also be welcome by the crowd as well ...to me it's always been quite simple get it right at grass roots level and the rest will look after itself

mdmc82
Think its a good idea. Those saying British riders will be half a lap behind or no good maybe need to look at Birmingham this year. Mainly made up of British riders and top of the league
