Guest
If Kings show the same fighting spirit that earned them a 47-43 win on Monday against IoW that double could be in striking distance for them.
greyhoundp
Should be a good meeting in prospect, and what Im really pleased to see, is Tom Perry seeming to be over his latest injury, and if he is fully fit, then The Islanders fans are in for a treat, I know the big sweeping bends on the Island will suit Tom down to the ground, and there is nothing more exciting than seeing a fit, confident Perry making his wide outside passes, I believe the Islanders management are very pleased with Dazza, but they havent yet seen the best of TP. Kings will believe they can win this, but can Stevie B overcome his recent engine gremlins, can young Jack stay on for 4 laps, those two will dictate how close this meeting will be for Kent Kings, because Im sure Ben,Benji and David should be good for half a dozen points apiece. But what a great performance, just going down 48-42 but taking a point from the Islanders. An excellent, fighting performance by the Kings. Kent Whistle Gang
Looking at IoW's home results this season, only Dudley have done better than 48-42 (Coventry equalled it). What a long way the Kings have come from the 63-31 and 61-32 defeats at Smallbrook earlier in the season. Well done to all the Kings' riders - many congratulations.
Jonny the spud
Looking at the islanders string of injuries this year. I'm amazed they've done this well. Their team now looks nothing like the starting 7 and most riders have missed a meeting or two with injuries. It's a credit to the riders and management that they've managed to keep a competetive team in the hunt throughout the season.
New Cross Ranger
I think Kent have come on leaps and bounds in their inaugural season. Congratulations must go out to everyone concerned with the CTA Fire Kings for a magnificent effort. Sadly however as I was leaving the stadium on Monday night someone happened to mention to me that there are still locals opposed to the operation despite the in my eyes more than reasonable 8.30 curfew, and that there is in fact a letter being distributed locally by a local lady that is calling for the speedway to be stopped! Now as someone that travels 40 miles each way to support the Kings I obviously haven't received or even spied a copy of this letter but it would be very sad after all the hard work if things were ordered to a halt after just one season. I do appreciate that in 'open' areas such as those that surround Central Park the noise can reverberate over quite a distance but being situated in the middle of an industrial estate as it is there seems to me at least very few residential areas within a mile or so radius so how bad can it be? Afterall although the meeting is scheduled for two hours there is only in fact about 25/30 minutes of fully revved up engine noise if you take into account a minute per race, getting to and from the tapes and the odd tuning/warming up from the pits. It would be good to hear from someone that does live in the area to hear their side.

In 1949, just 11 protesters about noise managed to get Hastings closed after two seasons in National League Division Three.

To be honest, given the attitude in this country that you cannot do anything without a group of nimbys complaining, I am not surprised to hear this. What I do find strange, however, is that very near the stadium is Byford Meadows kart track. This holds "social" karting events as well as proper MSA licensed kart race meetings (the latter at weekends, and - as far as I know - almost 52 weekends a year). Not heard of any noise complaints about that!
builderbob
jonny the spud not sure where you get that from, yes freemantle out is a bit of a loss but he was 3.00 point and replaced with 3.oo points and yes becker hasnt been replaced with a rider of the same calibre (in my opionion becker should never have been signed in the first place) but most of the other injurys have made them stronger ie rider replacement for stoneman when he was out with ellis able to take his rides, boxhall guesting for perry. Parsloes 1928 nearly
The issue re 'noise'. There is no 'noise'. There is a sound level within agreed times which was scientifically arrived at , at the Planning Cttee. We are have always kept within both time and sound levels. There is therefore not the slightest mileage in the complaints being made by a tiny handful of neighbours.

Very pleased to hear this hopefully then the local council will dismiss any complaint about noise and the Kings can continue to progress.
