Leicester V Edinburgh 31/8

Fantastic win! Before the meeting I thought Lions would do well to get anything out of this. Karlsson was truly magnificent, yet again. Another large noisey crowd made for a great atmosphere befitting the pressure and tension of the meeting. A great team effort well done Lions. Cookie was just unreal and worth the entrance fee alone. Dare I suggest the we could nick a point at Newcastle?

A track that suited all riders prepared to attack it and have a go. GT and his "consultants" got it right, big help with the weather conditions being spot-on for good track prep as well. Alex deserves a slap on the back, obvious he was in pain but as usual he improves as the match goes on (makes the attempted comeback at Rye all the more baffling/annoying - sorry to harp on about it). Can be a good combo with Simon N, who seems to be better in the earlier heats of matches. Bit concerned with Gravs inconsistencies, but suppose you can't argue too much with 2 heat wins - just wish he'd reduce the zero's though.

Liam Carr was great value for Embra and thought he was very unlucky to get chucked out when he fell. Shows BP can be tackled by young brits, especially if they can get out of the start on levle terms and not get spooked by mixing it on the first bend. Assuming KD not back for Newcastle, his r/r's should be availble to all the rest with him moving to no2 in the averages? Thik im right in saying Newky will be deffo in playoffs if they win today at home v Berwick, but with no chance of being in top 2. Maybe next Sunday theyll be just a fraction less charged-up and we can take advantage. Think Leicester took good advantage of Embra not being focussed enough on last nights match as they'd been giving all their attention to the cup semi - so maybe same again next Sunday?

Just like to say first visit to Leicester last night and really enjoyed the meeting. Good racing, well prepared track and an excellent venue all round. So pleased to meet some old friends from around the country too, well done Leicester for restoring my faith in the sport after a very trying season watching the Bees.

Well done to the Lions on beating a rather bedraggled Edinburgh team on Saturday. Too many problems for the Monarchs but you can only beat what's put in front of you.

Was plain to see where the difference was - Lions reserves outscored ours easily with Derek Sneddon having easily his worst performance I've seen from him this year. It appears the bike he was using was a rebuild of the one he was on when he was slammed into the fence at Somerset on Tuesday so it's no wonder he struggled.

Some good racing from the Lions to constantly pick off the Monarchs on the grippier outside of turns 3/4 which most of the Monarchs (with the exception of Cookie and to a lesser extent Claus) seemed unable to use! Seem to be problems on the inside of turns 3/4 which we generally just decided to ride through and watch as the Lions sailed by on the outside!

Pass marks for me (rather obviously) for Cookie, Liam Carr (top guest with a top surname;)) and the very unlucky Jozsef Tabaka. Claus and Theo although each scoring 9 points looked easy pickings when ahead and some points were gifts. If someone had lent Jozsef a bike that actually completed 4 laps, we would've taken at least a point from this meeting as he again showed his liking for the track when he was on the gas.

Derek won't have a worse meeting all season. Was frustrated with him getting picked off easily but after watching him pick himself up from the battering he took at Somerset, it's understandable that even if body is fine, the bike took one hell of a beating.

Superb crowd at Leicester, must be pleased to be getting gates like that (though not sure it's a weekly occurrence!) and they were all rewarded with a comprehensive home team performance. However I'm not so sure they'd have it as easy should the two teams meet again this season... Karlsson seems to have found his late season form which he does every season and Bjerre (who team-rides like Nicki Pedersen with a headache!) and Eklof gave solid if unspectacular backup. The reserve berth was where it was won and Simon Nielsen in particular was impressive.

One thing that bugged me was the referee in heat 14... There's never been a clearer all 4 back decision in the history of the sport, but for some reason Liam Carr was excluded after being pushed wider and wider from the 3 riders on the inside. Very poor decision.

Final word has to go to Cookie. 3 track records? Was unbelievably quick, not even shutting off the gas until midway round the turn (though looked a bit lost as to how to get past Edberg in ht11 - probably wondering does he stay in 3rd and let the team fall 10pts behind or not!) Top job but the back-up just wasn't there I'm afraid.

Congratulations to Leicester. Better team on the night and deserved the win.

To be honest from my view on bend 1

Edberg ran Carr up the banking hard but there was no contact then Edberg turn & went down the straight.

I agreed with the referee because there was plenty of racing room & it looked like Carr's inexperience showed & bailed off the bike.

Guess we're gonna have to agree to disagree... I was right on the apex of turns 1 & 2 and Carr ran out of room by the riders on the inside continuing to move out. Liam had to put the bike down or risk going harder into the fence than he did. Not inexperience but necessity!

Was you in the pits then because the apex of 1&2 is in the pits.

Like you say agree to disagree on this 1 by the looks of it.

My apologies, I think I was around 1.32mtrs from the apex on turn 1 side...!

I had a similar view to you and tend to agree.

From the apex you would have seen it sideways on. I was at the exit of turn two and the space could be clearly seen and edberg did not touch him and there was plenty of space for him. Having said that, I thought the referee was going to exclude Alex.

Not saying Edberg touched him... But he had to put the bike down or risk going into the fence harder than he did. He couldn't have shut off as Edberg was too close to him so in my view (and I'd say my view from turn 1/2 was pretty decent) was that it should've been all 4 back.
